Ven marches away from the tower with Ren in tow. He notices Joe by nearly stumbling over him, and gifts him another I'm-so-sunny-cause-of-cranium-vacuum smile.

-So I hung around that tower and Bertram gave me this magic pointer stone! We're supposed to go somewhere and do something this dude said, but I don't remember what since I was busy admiring his door. You with us?

((Don't dog yourself lemon-bro, we're doing fine, considering. Also, my next post will be tomorrow, cause I'm not home now and it's train time. Double also, I'm now going to excuse any instances of my own stupidity by Ven being an airhead.))

Sorry for the time this turn is taking, have oodles of homework this weekend (and thus it will be up tomorrow at some point). As for the third site, I'll just have Zamtek take it out or something.

Turn 9: Still Alive
Cromwell sets off following his stone (which appears to be leading him south-east as best he can determine), and is quickly joined by Russ and Bertram.
Meanwhile, after quite a bit of confused chatter on the part of Ven and Ren, Ven grabs Ren and bullies him into coming with along. On the way they run into Joe, who is pressganed into joining as well.

Each of the two parties set off, and after about a week arrive at what appears to be their respective destinations.
Cromwell and Company find their destination in a forest that is rather unexceptional except for the intense humidity pervading everything. The forest is actually quite cold but sweat pours out of every crevice of the mages bodies.
Ven and Ren (and Joe) find their destination on  an arid plane. There is nothing but dry flaking moss as far as the eye can see. Breathing is difficult, as waves of heat and dryness assail them.

Both of them find something in common. In the middle of both the forest and the plane lie nearly identical pagodas. Each is made out of some strange rubbery substance, and each has is a spiral staircase descending deep into the earth in its middle. Both parties shrug, and cautiously begin to descend them. As they go lower and lower, the both the temperature and humidity effects become more pronounced.

After hours spend descending, the staircases finally end, and each party finds themselves in vast nearly identical chambers made of the same rubbery substance the pagoda up above is.

In the center of each is a magical circle of some kind, and at its center is box. The color of the box and everything in the circle is … wrong somehow, the closest way to describe it would be purple, but it isn’t purple. The box periodically pulses with the not-purple Surrounding the circle are eight small orbs encased in crystal. Seven of them appear to be broken. The eight orb is not.
Cromwell and Co’s orb is clearly radiating elemental Fire, while Ven, Ren and Joe's radiates elemental Water.

As the groups move to approach the central circle, their Direction Stones suddenly start to talk.
Ah, before you awaken the orb guardian, note that they are completely immune to both their element, as well as its opposite.
Since apparently the six of you are too stupid to follow directions, I suppose I will have to clear out the other masking site myself.

((Re: Golem limits. Longterm combat golems have a global cap of 1 (Lifewood golems, Strong golems), other golems have a cap of one per type (eg. Magma, Faithful, Glass)))
((I was unsure if you wanted me to keep doing the golem spells, or go back to the non-golem spells. In the end I decided to keep doing the golem spells))

((I guess if we're hitting combat, I'll switch back learning non-golem spells. Really happy you gave me live golems (and a jungle) here though. Too bad I didn't get the water guardian.))

Russ walks outside the gazebo and summons a Livewood Golem from a nearby tree with the command "Protect myself and my allies"

Is making another weapon self-transmutation spell too similar? I think my swordhand is fire-aligned, so it would be nice to have maybe an earth hammer or something.

Yeah, that would be acceptable as long as it isn't fire based and isn't a sword(ish) weapon.

Turn 9.1: The Start of the Spectrum War

With the creation of the universes came the creation of life, a billion sentient species over a trillion worlds. The richness and prosperity of that time is beyond the wildest imagination of those living today, of course, not all was perfect. Our world must seem a paradise to a few of the most unlucky worlds of that time, but it was for most far far better than the modern world ever can hope to be. I do not know how many eons this lasted, but quite suddenly it ended. LIGHT and DARKNESS declared war on MYRTA, and although it took centuries for the news to trickle down to the mortals, they too eventually joined in the conflict. On its face the notion is absurd, to kill a regular god is near impossible, the work of millennia. But MYRTA was far more than a simple god. He was a primal force beyond reality. A being for who time itself had little meaning, and a being for whom the petty laws it and LIGHT and DARKNESS had constructed were irrelevant. But LIGHT and DARKNESS were also strong, and cunning, and although it the path was very difficult, they knew a way to kill, or at least banish MYRTA from reality. I suspect no one but the three primal gods knew how it worked, but it involved the complete destruction of Myrta (and its component elements) from reality.
The first thing learned in the war was that MYRTA was inexplicably much stronger than either LIGHT or DARKNESS, so strong as to be more than the match of both of them together.
The war raged for millions of years. For a long time the war was fought with conventional troops and by conventional means. More developed systems were turned into massive industrial centers, the more populated fielded endless legions of troops, and the more rural fed them. The gods and the elements themselves took part in the conflict, the more comprehensible amongst them leading armies and worlds as generals. Within centuries almost nothing remained of the golden age that had graced the universes for so long. The scope of the conflict and slaughter is far beyond my ability to comprehend. For all this time MYRTA was slowly pushing back his kin. World by world, millennia by millennia, MYRTA was winning. Its followers were weaker than those of LIGHT and DARKNESS combined, but before the vast incomprehensible strength of MYRTA this meant little.
