Definitely has a lot of potential for endangered languages, that's for sure. I'd definitely take a whack at a really weird language like Inuktitut.

We'll see how the Vietnamese course is when it comes out. I have a feeling they're going to have to make their tree structure a lot looser than it is at the moment.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

I'd learn the shit out of Esperanto. Once it's out we definitely need to start a club.

Tree structure?

Yeah, the way they do their trees and modules. It's going to have to become more and more flexible the further and further away a language gets from English.

I don't think a lot of Duolingo users really realize just how much can be shortcutted when you're going from western European language to western European language. You don't have to teach too much syntax. You barely have to teach case. You don't have to teach a different morphosyntactic alignment. You don't need to teach tone. You don't ever have to teach more than maybe forty or fifty forms for a verb. You don't need to teach another alphabet. The meanings of words generally line up pretty well.

Well. Signed up for this. Seems like a decent way to brush up on my Spanish and German. No idea if I'd trust this on its own. Still, seems pretty decent as a way to get reacquainted with a language at least.

I've had an interest for a few years, but as far as foreign languages go, I already have English, I've taken some Spanish, and I've had bad experiences learning French. Past those I'd plan on learning some Chinese and Japanese. But yeah, pretty much covering many major economic and cultural regions. Minus French anyway. Plus German counting is surprisingly similar to Arabic, so that was fun to find out.

A new week begins, and the weekly high score chart is reset. Who will dominate this time?

Also, my second Swedish friend taught me a tongue twister to impress my handsome Swedish friend. Click this and click the "listen" button to hear it.
