Our two inactive protagonists remain inactive.

CNR Laboratory, Ceres

Avis-Mergulus AKA Anton "Tosha" Teremnoi

Most of the nanites in the room are fried and useless. [6] You attempt to establish a connection with the rogue unit's nanite cloud by physically inserting your robotic arm into the cloud, but a sudden arc of electricity heats up the metal and causes temporary spasms in the arm's artificial muscle tissue, whisking it away.

"I swear, it wasn't me! Not... intentionally, at least."
You aren't sure whether or not it was the real Hamilton or the fake one that said that, but you assume it is the fake one. Or is it really fake?

[5] The nanite husks scattered across the floor are a ready source of carbon, being composed primarily of carbon nanostructures.

However, it seems that you don't have a lot of nanobots left after the EMP. Using what few nanites you have left, you procure a surprisingly large amount of acetone in the form of a puddle on the floor.

[6] You point your gun at the rogue commander unit. Your targeting program automatically highlights a thick outline around the target.
(Your next attack against the commander unit will automatically hit)

"Yes, that is my name... But who are you? Why do you sound like me? And what the hell is going on?"

((How exactly does skill gain work? Just a curiosity, since I noted some people got some skills earlier))

Felicia quickly assessed the situation -When life gives you lemons make lemonade, and when life gives you a VOC...

Use the microstructured surface of the nanites to volatilize the acetone more rapidly, then make a spark.

((Usually rolling a 5 triggers a skill event.

Wait a minute... sorry I was lazy! I'll give your character some chemistry skill. Using the cloud is not an advanced roll, though, since there are subroutines that do all the manipulation.

Traits under "Cloud Status" are different, and will come into play once I introduce Nanocards.))

- You claim that you are Hamilton Teromo. I claim that I am Hamilton Teromo. What was the gun you used in your last operation?

Divide, you mixed up mine and Samarkand's actions - the acetone one was mine.

Yep... considering the fact that I have no nanites, maybe you're right.

Heh... hehe.

My bad, although I was under the impression Felicia was given ALL the nanobots so she could do the EMP.

By the way, darkpaladin and Chromatic Wasp aren't out, you two can still post actions and act in-character. Perhaps we can have the plots diverge this early.

Anton notices Felicia concentrating over the acetone and takes a half-second to blurt out,

-Isaidbeforesomebodydoessomethingstupidohgodletthemtalk!

Then, he quickly retreats out of the prospective blast radius. He's not very useful in combat anyway.

"Oh. I suppose we could let them sort the situation out..." Felicia looks a little sheepish about the fact that she resorted to violence so quickly.

Step away from the two Hamiltons, look around the area for anything interesting

Mini Roll

[4] The unit gives Teromo a straight response, immediately after given a turn to speak.

"Luger P08 Replica. My favorite weapon out of all of them. Lost it on my last mission before ending up in, well, this place.

Look... me. I don't know what happened. I was in here, going through a series of tests. I tried to teleport my body using the nanites, but then the doctor started shouting through the mic and stuff. He shut down all the connections and left me stuck in here. Do you know what went wrong? I mean... you're me, so you have to know!"

- Eh... I have exactly the same story to tell, except that after commander unit reassembled, I failed to access it and then everything blacked out after the power was shut down, I found myself in this body and was asked to clarify the situation with the rogue commander unit, which was presumed to be... well, you... or another me... I do not know...

Stop pointing the gun, stand down.

You hear the doctor over the radio. His voice sounds slightly panicked and very impatient.
"Well? I'm not hearing any action. Please respond."

- Doc... I don't know how to say... I occasionally cloned myself. This unit seems to be inhabited by a copy of my entity.

"Oh, okay. Hamilton, this is exactly what I was worried about. But you have to realize that it's not a copy of you. It's an AI. And AI's are just that--artificial. It doesn't have a body--its brain is literally the nanocloud surrounding it. Those sparks around it are artificial nerve impulses being simulated by the system. What you're witnessing is a by-product of the neural interface we use to control the nanites. I'm going to have to ask you to terminate it to the best of your ability. Use the nanites if you have to--Felicia currently has control of them according to my readings. Tell her to do it if you can't bring yourself to do it."

Your copy makes a noticeable noise as his servos turn. He stands up straight and, nervously, asks you what you're going to do.
