Actually, I've heard pyramid builders were treated exceptionally well. Pretty sure the whole thing about slaves building the pyramids was a myth.

Blaze here probably has it worse than any pyramid builder.

Yeah, I remember reading that pyramids were in fact built by an army of professional architects/construction workers, being payed and all, and even living in a temporary village built especially for them near the pyramids.

IIRC this was still as much of a theory as the slave one though. I should probably go read some more of the related stuff again.

Back on topic -  really, what IS your job, Blaze? This sounds pretty horrible! I hope this is just temporary thing and you are at least getting decently payed for that.  :-\

Oh they know. Spiders are not stupid. They've just got disproportionally huge balls.

Huh, I thought that the professional workers was confirmed by archaeological evidence. As in they found kitchens to feed the workers, plenty of cow bones to indicate that they were fed well, and lots of graffiti from the workers showing that they took pride in their labour. Or something along those lines, it's been a while since I've seen/read about that sort of stuff too.

Historically I heard the actual block-haulers were farmers who had nothing better to do since it wasn't planting/harvesting season, and indeed got paid for their efforts.

That said, what sadistic overlord doesn't like forced labor pyramids?

That sounds like EA-game-development-job conditions. Not the pyramid workers, although I've never heard of any of this, so it's fascinating to hear that the workers were neither slaves nor space aliens.

I work as one of the Chefs on a resort, if anyone's curious. There's several casual and fine-dining restaurants and I'm shifted as needed.

There's been several incidents among some employees that resulted in people leaving, so it is definitely just a temporary situation. In the meantime, more work for me.

Like, actual chef Chef? With actual culinary arts training?

Culinary arts, baking and pastries, a touch of wine and spirits, a bit of maitre' d if necessary, and so on.

I'm usually assigned to the bakery in the morning, and shifted elsewhere as needed later in the day.

Ha! They won't even let me near guests with anything alcoholic due to being so small.

In any case, there won't be any major updates until I'm off; I can't focus in such a short time frame. Usually I spend that time adding stuff to my CDDA mod.

So it's saturday and the only game that had its price mentioned was Sparkle 2 (though I doubt anyone is going to pick something cheaper), so random.org commands me to vote for Sirius to win. :P

That's real cool Blaze!! I had a job with the timing like that but it was a manufacturing job that we had to follow the customer's order amount exactly every day, so there's a possibility of having 16 hour days. Now all I do is hurl hot razor sharp metal at myself...
