I'm totally fine with lacking a soul. Actually that may be fun to RP.
With 'lack of soul', I think he meant lack of personality.
Most of you simply let the background, personality and mannerisms blank.
Well that's because it's more fun to develop your character as you go! Makes you feel more attached to them, which is important for when they inevitably get brutally slaughtered.

As this point we might as well invoke interpretive dance and call it a day.

It might just be my experience in the matter, but if you don't set up a personality to start with you generally end up one of two places:

1) Playing without a personality
2) Using your own personality. Which kinda defeats the point in a lot of ways.

Technically, Erza has no soul right now, since she sold it already. That's the whole thing about being a warlock after all.

And no one answered my question... :(

Well, it's a tough question.. try flipping a coin or roll a d6 to decide.

Shit, I'm second guessing myself with my character... Should I stick with the infernal pact (easier to use, more beefy, works well in RP, con focused) or go with a Star Pact instead (ridiculous possibilities in the distant future, multiple types of damage, SICK pact boon, tricky to use, cha or con based)?
I say go with the Infernal Pact. It has more RP potential.

...And technically that means that I have no actual soul, either, since I'm also a half-warlock, I guess my soul's been spent as well.

Which would be more fun for you to play? I'm leaning towards recommending Star, since they A. Sound cool, and B. Everyone does Infernal. Be different. There's a Class Act in Dragon 366 for them.

So I'm a Half-Elf, Half-Warlock, Half-Ranger with Half a Soul?
Who the heck were my parents?

That's awesome.

But now I'm thinking of exactly what this freak's family would look like. I'd imagine that it's either with one side of the family being totally normal, and the other side being absolutely insane, or having two sides of opposing insanities.

In neither event can I imagine this forming some kind of lasting relationship to produce a child.

Who said it had to be lasting?

That certainly explains a lot. Would he have lived with the Elf side or the Human side? I imagine his childhood must have sucked.

...I think I'm actually starting to write this guy's backstory for him, now.

RP wise, it's easier to do infernal pact (I already have a background idea for that actually. Made a deal to a devil who is a distant relative in order to get the power to enact revenge.), the whole star pact thing does sound interesting too. (Making deals with lovecraft style terrors from beyond the stars is definitely out there for D&D. Makes it tricky to work into my background though...)

Alrighty, I'll give star pact a go. Hopefully it won't bite me in the ass and if it really doesn't work out for me then maybe the DM will be kind enough to let me change later.

EDIT: Just finished with my sheet. Please check it for me to see if I messed something up!

Ok, looks like Cmega3 is ready, and Remuthra, you just need some items and the like. Unless you want to be a naked fist-fighter, considering what I see in your items section.

I have everyone else's consent to start, right? Looks like we're going to start once Remuthra is ready.

Also, I just noticed that both our paladin and full-on warlock seem to have had some major life event at age 12.

That's.. Interesting..
Well for me it's because Dragonborns reach maturity at the age of 12, so for me it would make some sense if he became a Paladin a few years prior to that.

I'm fine playing without personality on my sheet. Vulpec is supposed to be some kind of mysterious wanderer anyways. Also Vulpec should speak in bright green.
