Gloating is not exactly the best way to avoid arguments

Only torban knows about the letters so far and he hasn't said anything. Also, thank you for reminding me to write the last of them. I have like three more to go :P

And yeah. Don't gloat. I give karma rolls for those.

Quote from: Letter to Torban
As you have probably figured out, the gods can talk to you. It comes with being a summoner. Now you've also probably figured out, the gods aren't as kind as people make them out to be. I should know. Anyways, be prepared to face some hardships in your travels to the Merthy Woods. The people that hired Lucien didn't tell him about the vicious Gnolls living to the east in the Llane Vale. they have supposed claims to the Merthy woods. Keep this to yourself. We wouldn't want the caravan to end so abrubtly. Not with everyone's lives at stake.

Your friend,

Thank you! Ok, as the letter says Vicious gnolls with claims to the Merthy Woods.

Add that to the Raiding parties and you have a very very nasty enemy.

Have fun later.

Again. No one was right or wrong on this. The IC characters do not know this.

Also, even Lucien doesn't know about the letters. He probably won't know either.

I'd like to point out again Solairi can't actually read. Someone else will have to read her letter for her.

Well one of you has to notice the letters first. I'm under divine orders not to tell you.

Well the letter doesn't really specify what not to talk about. My mistake.

I did already. They are not going to accept it. Talking to them is nothing but a needless risk and a waste of time.
You never actually explained why all the examples I gave would never apply to gnolls. Or why they would refuse trade, or tribute. Or why attacking them head-on would work out any better than talking to them and getting attacked.

I'm going to go ahead and stop any argument from happening. Let me look for something right quick...
Cymea hears an interesting rumor about a Gnoll raiding party having been seen near the edge of the Llanwrton Vale. It was easily dispatched however.
This Should give you all a good indication as to what the Gnoll's intentions are.
Vikings raided, too, but that didn't stop them from trading when it paid off better. And don't get me started on knights and samurai, pre-chivalry.

I just did it as an action and got mine straight away. And now you all see why I was against diplomacy from the start and in the spirit of self congratulation.

I told you so. Thats twice in 2 days.
You are making me consider quitting this game again...
I mean, seriously. Did you seriously just say "I Told You So" when all you have is a letter that proves that at least some gnolls are raiders? Might as well cut off oil trade with the Middle East because some Middle Easterners are terrorists.

You know who else lays claim to things? Warlords. They are perfectly content to let people live on their turf if they get paid off. After all, if they kill everyone they only get things once, but if they let you live they can collect much, much more.
I suggest offering them bombs. Small, unlit bombs. Those seem like things the gnolls would find very useful, and since they're one-use they can't stockpile them until they have enough--they would keep needing them.

Torban is under orders not to tell them about the Gnolls, Not the letters :/
Alexandria seems perfectly content to take any excuse to not share things with others.

Well no. Until now all I had was the letter saying don't tell the others..... Not don't mention the Gnolls to the others. Just don't tell the others. So I took it to mean don't tell the others and didn't.
So to be clear, I mistake the words don't tell the others at the end of a letter to mean don't tell you at all not don't mention the Gnolls and it's taking excuses. You fail to see a message right in front of your eyes and it's all good.

Way to seize on the least important part of my post and ignore the salient points I made.

Can I point out the irony of your blaming me for exactly what you did yesterday?

I didn't explain because I would have assumed you were reading the game and so had seen my letter and the rumor.

Again, your likening one thing to something it has nothing to do with. The fact that the vikings did it does not mean the the Gnolls will do it. We have 0 evidence to support the Gnolls being willing to trade and actual evidence supporting the fact that they want nothing to do with other people.

The GM has even basically said himself, they will not negotiate with us.

What, the time when I didn't respond to your apology because I didn't know it existed?

And that excuse is better then me misunderstanding a vague warning how? It's just as possible that you simply don't want to accept your side of yesterdays problem and so claim you didn't see it. And even after it being pointed out to you you carried on as if it hadn't happened at all.
I admitted my part, the others admitted there parts. You ignored it and carried on as if you had no hand in it which tends to support the whole you just didn't want to admit it argument.

I'm not complaining about your response to one part, I'm complaining that you didn't respond to anything else.

Wrong. I dropped the issue after it was pointed out.

Oh, I saw the letter and rumor. Putting aside how it was only a rumor, and how the raiders were dealt with, I explained in the post I'm talking about you ignoring that this does not in any way affect our chances of diplomancing the gnolls.

No, we have exactly the opposite. Why bother laying claim to the land if you don't want to deal with other people? Doesn't laying claim to the land require dealing with other people at least some?
Besides, a rumor isn't exactly the most reliable source.

I've never been one to side with the GM instead of logic. I tend to instead debate the GM, and/or find a way around it.
And seriously, you still trust GMs to be honest with this kind of stuff? You must be new to this. When was the last time you failed a Search roll and the GM told you "You didn't find the trap"?
