New World - An RTD of Exile: Turn 4
« on: February 10, 2014, 04:04:22 pm »

They called it the glorious path to the future, a grand expedition and mass colonization of numerous unknown yet beautiful worlds for the good of the Empire, but we call it the Exile. The mass relocation of criminals, dissidents, troublemakers, and the like to numerous far off planets that were habitable but considered far to costly in both resources and lives to tame, that is what you are for. Even now the ship carrying your group, and the numerous other exiles plows towards its destination bearing hundreds of thousands who will be booted onto some unknown world with minimal supplies to die, or thrive under the watchful eye of the Empire for those who might try to rise in rebellion. You six, and a few dozen others, are part of Relocation Group B478CPJ (part of the second wave of exiles, the first wave arrived here some two decades ago) and are now gathered in the large outdated shuttle that will soon carry you to the world below, but just who are you six brave exiles who could make a difference in this world?

You were planning to have a 15 year old magical girl kill Witches by drinking them under the table!? It's original, at least.

ARGH just a little late.  Reserved for hypothetical 7th slot.

Name: Jake Brawley
Age:43
Bio: After the empire imposed oppressive axe handle length laws, Jake quit his lumberjack job and joined a secret organization in his home town dedicated to rebelling against the empire, specifically its forced colonization plan for undesirables.  Jake proposed a new and bold way of advocating for change: axe murdering, which he claimed went well with his reasons for disliking the empire so.  Despite the protests of the other members, Jake went on an axe murdering spree, killing dozens.  The group disbanded, citing a sudden understanding of the wisdom of the empire's colonization program.  The last act of the group before disbanding was to turn Jake over to the empire, which decided he was an excellent candidate for colonization.

Profession before the exile: lumberjack and, briefly, axe murderer.
Reason for exile: excessive axe murdering.
World to be exiled to: "I don't negotiate with empire filth!  What's the worst you've got, axe-handle regulating scum?!?"

The six starting players will be chosen by me, so no worries you can still possibly get in, though once the starting characters are chosen the waitlist will be in the order of which they were posted.

Name: Alek Konicek
Age: 37
Bio: Born in the cavern-colonies beneath the ice of Jokir-VI, John has the grey skin and jagged teeth of all the gene-modded inhabitants. Growing up, John had had no particular aptitudes. A distant household made him spend his times out on the ice, hunting the snow-beasts with a low-calibre rifle. Seeing nothing but a harsh life of drudgery and toil, he signed up to the fleet as a technician, despite the general mistrust for the 'Greys' - rumors abound of cannibalism and murder by Jokirians.

Once in the fleet, he took a lowly role, servicing the early models of cryogenic cylinders. He made few friends among his ship-mates, though, and earned a warning when he was involved in a brawl that sent another rating to the med-bay. Only the other Jokirian serving on board made him feel welcome - a woman named Aaliyah, his direct superior. There were on the cusp of 'fraternizing' when the cryogenic failure occurred. Sentenced within two days of his arrest, he hasn't seen her since, and most likely will never again.

Having been in the military, he has been trained in firearms and in ship combat, but as a technician he was never taught much ground combat. He has plenty of practical experience with machines.

Due to the gene-mods, he can digest meat much more readily than plant matter, and can live off raw meat without a much lesser risk of scurvy and other such diseases. His current description is a tall, lanky figure, with grey skin and sharp blue eyes. His teeth are sharp and pointed, though he is still genetically similar enough to count as 'human', despite what some might say.

Profession before the Exile: Cryogenic technician, 4th Defensive Fleet
Reason for Exile: A cryogenic failure Alek overlooked lead to the deaths of approximately three thousand preserved 'sleepers'. Charged with gross negligence, John was found guilty and sentenced to exile.

What kind of world are you being exiled to?
Iceworld. Smell the cold? Just like home.

Name: Honda Mitsubishi
Age: 20
Bio: Honda Mitsubishi was born in the slums of DodgeFord VII, a small industrialized world that served as a "junkyard" of sorts to the rest of the Empire. He avoided involvement with the rampant gangs and instead focused his time on computers. They became his passion, his obsession, and he set his life goal of restoring older machines and programs to working order. However, one day he came upon the husk of Dwarf Fortress, previously slumbering eternally, Honda restored its functions, and awoke something he could not have imagined. Dwarf Fortress 1.0, as Honda later found out, was fully sentient, and quickly took over the planets network functions, using the infrastructure to turn the entire world into a deathtrap. Honda himself had managed to get out on one of the first shuttles after the disaster, but was soon discovered to be the cause, and sentenced to colonization.

Profession: Computer Repairman
Reason for Exile: Possession of Contraband (Dwarf Fortress V1.0) leading to creation of sentient deathtrap planet.

World Kind: Oceanic with dots of islands. (no one wants him anywhere near tech again)

Sounds good!  Don't forget to make sure you have all your bases covered.  Like the team's lumberjack, as a random example.

Name: Rune (Last Name Unknown)
Age: 28
Bio: Rune came from a long line of blacksmiths, engineers, architects, and carpenters, who all shared one thing in common- the need to always do better than your best. He himself worked as a robotic engineer for a short while, before he discovered how amazing the art of coding the robots themselves was, and he quit his job and got hired by a technical company dedicated to creating robots to carry out the law. He married the woman that he loved, but the woman turned out to be a fugitive on the run and desperate for anywhere to hide. (Continued in reason for exile)

Profession before the Exile: Technician
Reason for Exile: He harbored this fugitive, and, when she was discovered and taken away, he used his position as a coder of the police robots to destroy the original code, and make them all randomly stop carrying out the law and start doing chicken dances. Many criminals started going insane with laughter as a desperate chase turned into a hilarious once-in-a-lifetime-event. Crime flourished for a short while, but was then quickly suppressed. Once order was restored, they wanted to execute him, but someone thought that being sent to this planet would be an even worse punishment than death.

What kind of world are you being exiled to? Same planet as BFEL, Oceanic with dots of islands.
