I suspect he exploded, and his remains are floating in deep space now.

You just don't shut down your computer once it starts running that hot. It's like pouring water into really strong acid.

When a new crater appears on Google Earth, we'll know.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I don't wanted to turn off.

This is kinda akin to saying "I don't want to brush my teeth". You might not notice any consequences for days or even months, but then you're going to get a wicked toothache due to an infection and man are you gonna regret not brushing your teeth.

Not to mention that Windows 8 has crazy fast boot speeds.

Anyway... you think maybe Speccy's just botching something?

... How long did you leave it off? You'll want to wait a bit. Cooling takes time.

Of course yeah it could just be a software glitch.

Hmm.

If that isn't a laptop, I'd suggest turning it off, bringing in a shitload of fans, and cracking it open to see what's up. Wait a while for it to cool, then run it and check. It's very possible your fan is broken or something, though why your computer isn't automatically shutting down from this is something I don't have a clue about. Then run it without one of the sides so that you can see whether the fan is running, the motherboard is hot enough to boil tea on, etc.

The idea behind turning it off is to let it cool down. Which means letting it sit several hours instead of turning it right back on :P.

I had a laptop heating problem and I thought it could be a few things: fan isn't operating properly, vents are clogged with dust, or the thermal jelly on the heat sink has overheated and solidified - resulting in less cooling ability. Might look into these things. Could be cheaper than replacing a laptop, but I don't know what kind of safety things you should be looking out for.

128C on the motherboard alone seems pretty absurd. Have you opened up your computer? Wave your hand around the motherboard heatsinks the see if it's actually that hot (don't touch it in case it actually is). If there's no boiling heat coming off of it, there's probably something wrong with the temperature monitor. The fact that it was exactly 128C both times makes me suspicious.

I'd check the fan on your motherboard and make sure it's clear of junk and still turns. That is an unacceptable heat level and hot enough to eventually damage components. The fact your HDDs are at about 100 degree Fahrenheit too is also not good.

If you were piloting a mech, sexy computer would be saying "SHUTDOWN IMMINENT" right now.
Incidentally, if Mechwarrior 4 is to be believed, you only shutdown at 10,000K. Advances in cooling, I guess. Although that's a little suspect since it always cools down to 0K, which seems like a harmful operating temperature as well. Not to mention that 10,000K is about twice the temperature of the sun's surface.

0K is okay, but it should be a bit hotter.
