Has anyone tried to completely weaponize speech yet? Like calmly suggesting to some guards that going home and shoot themselves is a really good idea or noting to someone who is trying to kill them that putting on a musical right now would be the best course of action.

I think... that either of those plans would be rather silly and I would be dismayed to see them succeed.
That said, I'm sure it'd be amusing to see someone try...

Charles, my character is a speech specialist. Mind control is not possible. Piecewise himself has said that. But you can persuade, manipulate (partially why Charles was created with a background in psychiatry, it helps with bullshitting, along with the delicious irony) and more importantly, enrage. If you enrage someone, they seem to lose control, judging by how when he accidentally berserked Xan, Charles didn't get immediately incinerated but rather had enough time to fire his turret because Xan was instead using his physical stats to try and murder him, even though Xantalos' action involved amp usage. So it can function if used correctly as a way to make enemies more vulnerable...

To elaborate, PW has said you can't make someone do something totally out of character. So, if you try and get a sane, healthy person to kill themselves, it will fail. However, if you find a person who is already unstable, depressed, or suicidal, then yes, you could talk them into killing themselves.

Coulda sworn I suggested that. We could get the heat of the rocket pods on the evac shuttle to thaw out the buried folks. It's foolproof, or at least seems par for the course for the ARM.

Actually, Jobasio's probably safer than with almost any other medic- Mesk doesn't roll for MED anymore, he just gets auto-fives.  I think he earned that during the Heph timeskip.

Of course you are.  But that's natural- all tinkerers are overly optimistic about the things they design; See the MBL, Sibilus, Testament, Most of Saint's programs, everything that people designed and loved, but was so obviously impractical that nobody would ever fund them, ect.

The really effective stuff seems to pass by without much fanfare.  Pyro's grenade launcher didn't have much hype IIRC, but was frighteningly effective, and Pancaek's flamethrower... Well, I'm unsure what Pancaek thought of it, but it's certainly extremely effective.


Oh, something I've been wondering since I started reading Ignition: Why are we using ClF₃ rather than ClF₅?  I mean, aside from the obvious ("It's just like liquid hell, but with 66.6% extra concentrated hatred per cup!"), it reacts with more things.  And when you spray ClF₅ with water, instead of just exploding and spraying acid into the air, it turns some of the water into a chemical that dissolves the few things that resist ClF₅, and sprays acid into the air.

Sure, there's less information about it, but from what information there is, it seems to be even worse.
