Is it GWG thread time?
We'd need a thread in every forum. And every subforum.

Might as well just make a "GWG forum" and redirect all GWG arguments there.

I'm trying not to get involved in this but:

How can someone expect something he doesn't expect? That's illogical GWG. Hence, the sod commanders can't account for something they don't expect.

Amp specialists are in a coma not because of their type of amp but because they can sense through them and react fast enough to negate lasers and other amps. They have immense power and immense willpower and immense control and that requires complete focus.

And to play the devil's advocate and cause some paranoia, what if Lars rolled a 1? (don't remember his stats right now, he can roll a 1, right?)
That would mean that they actually have to get away from the elevator as fast as possible.

Lars is flat on intuition, so about a 1 in 6 chance per roll.

That said, it makes me wonder how often PW does "spot checks" in the background?  Did one actually happen, or was the stop inserted for narrative device, and it just made the most sense for Lars?

Spoiler: Having fun with GWG (click to show/hide)

@Caellath
Ah, okay.  From the way you said it I assumed you'd missed that, sorry.

@Radio Controlled
First, please don't take anything I tell GWG in those spoilers at face value.

Second, does a rifle not "require training, knowledge and insight to get the most out of [it]"?  I'm not saying that sods are a particularly effective tool without training (although they're better than a rifle without training), but I could easily see a commader delegating a sod squad to an unqualified person so that they could do something more important than set up sods at choke points.

Generally, if there's a chance that bad shit could happen, I roll intuition to see if anyone can see it coming. Sometimes the checks are easier (3's or 4's might work) sometimes they're harder (only 5's work). Sometimes 6's and 1's give you an idea something is coming but the complete wrong idea.

It's kinda like the Hidden will rolls.

Anyways, again--what kind of trap does leaving through a route other than the door, or staying in the elevator, lead to a better situation than dealing with the problem?
So you can slip out the back before they know you were there, at the worst you'll see that nobody cares. You don't want to be around when it all goes down, even heroes know when to be scared.
Assuming that they somehow don't notice that you're cutting your way out of the elevator, and that you go somewhere safer, and that they don't follow/head you off.

I don't remember where I met him or remember his name, but he walked funny like he was too big for his frame. Just over five foot, but he weighed a buck fifty, and what he said just seemed so right it stuck with me: Listen, its like poker, you can play your best, but you've got to know when to fold your cards and take a rest, and know when to hold your cards and hold your breath, and hope no one else is staring at the deck. Because, I don't need to tell you that life isn't fair, it doesn't care, it arbitrarily cuts off your air, and like you, I want someone to say it's okay. But the truest parts of our hearts, everybody's afraid, but just unappreciated and overwhelmed fighting so hard to hide our fear that we're scaring ourselves. You understand when I'm saying you always did, but its different in the words of a cowardly kid.

Has anyone given the thought that perhaps Lars (critically) failed, or even overshot, an intuition roll? I would not put it above Piecewise to give false positives for such (Yay paranoia!).

Not that you shouldn't be planning for the possibility he's right, of course.

...I'm sure that you mean something like that, but what you said is in this context halfway between an Eastern koan and a Country/Western song.

Hadn't thought of that. Yay, points I hadn't thought of earlier!

I'm no hero, you remember how I was. You know, all I ever did was worry, feeling out of control, to the point where everything was going end over end. I'm spinning in circles again, this is the part where you come in, all of this to explain to you why I had to separate myself away from yesterdays life. Please remember this isn't how I hoped it would be, but I had to protect you from me. That's why I slipped out the back before you knew I was there, I know you felt unprepared, but every singe time I was around I would just bring you down, and I could tell that it was time to be scared. That's why I slipped out the back before you knew I was there, and I know the way I left wasn't fair, I didn't want to be around just to bring you down, I'm not a hero, but don't think I didn't care.

This is TCM we're talking about. It's obviously a rap song.
