Assuming that they somehow don't notice that you're cutting your way out of the elevator, and that you go somewhere safer, and that they don't follow/head you off.
Why would they necessarily know that you're cutting your way out?  Knowing that the elevator went down to floor X makes sense, but knowing that a three-foot diameter hole was cut in it's ceiling would require a pretty specialized sensor.  I could see them having a maintenance sensor for that, but the people directly outside the elevator are unlikely to be looking at those.

Why would they follow/head you off?  They're defending the bridge.  Leaving the most important place to hunt down a single group of boarders that already decided to go away seems like a stupid idea.

All that's kinda irrelevant though, when you realize the trap is probably just several sods that were told to shoot anyone that comes out of the elevator.  In which case, cutting through the ceiling wouldn't trigger their kill order.  Even if it is standard humans that will shoot ceiling people, coming from an unexpected direction would reduce the effectiveness of the ambush.

Hell, just having ten seconds to lay on the floor and ready weapons before the doors open would be helpful.

@Universal manip talk
The AM outright said "I favor a universal amp myself" at some point.  I'd find the exact post, but I've wasted enough of my day searching for irrelevant information already.
Actually, I was wrong.  Hadn't wasted enough time yet.

Sure, she said "I use the universal one" rather than "I favor a universal amp myself", but I was still generally correct.  And the quick Google search showed lots of people who were saying "she might/probably/seems to have a universal amp".  Also, lots of people calling the universal manip an amp.

And I doubt having one requires any of that, since the universal manipulator doesn't.
1. Amps require you to use bits of brain to control the amp. Manipulators? The controlly stuff is inside the manipulator.
2. Look at amp specialists. That's the simplest explanation for the life-support equipment.

Why would they necessarily know that you're cutting your way out?
1. The door doesn't open.
2. They have ears. What else would we be doing with a cutting thing? (One that wasn't cutting the door.)

...Then don't we need to face them anyways?

Assuming that the people ordering the sods around are idiots and that the sods are the only thing there, yes. If they aren't, or if there are turrets like there have been anywhere else of moderate importance, we'd be as screwed coming from the elevator as the wall.

Arguable, since you'd have one person completely unable to prepare for anything. And you're assuming that they don't have an override command. (And a properly-commanded sod is a universal override command.)

Sods also likely have the patience of the stupid, and can wait for something to happen far longer than a typical human squad would.

If they're told to. And what kind of commander would simultaneously be so stupid not to account for something that basic (if hare-brained), and yet so capable to get promoted to a sod command position?

...Is your need to argue so great that you are arguing AGAINST your own team's odds of survival? Because your character may be immortal, but he still needs his teammates if he wants to have any hope of completing the objective.

"It'll cost ya a few tokens, that ok?" The man at the kiosk asks, "Like 3 or something." He looks a round a bit before leaning close to the slot of his kiosk and whispering, "So is it true about you and the Armory master?"

No problem, he had a good amount of tokens...What.

"What? What is true?" Milno asked. He was sorely tempted to outright say "no, it isn't", but he'd rather hear the whole story instead of looking like a retard after answering a question before knowing what it was about.

Ask.
"You know...With the" He whistles, and bumps his fists together. "Because I don't think I've ever seen her so much as hug a guy. Well, not since whats his name, but that didn't really count."
Too bad that scientist-doorman guy died.

Yes, but none of the other amps require slaving your entire brain to the damn thing. There's no indication the universal amp is any different. Especially since the universal manipulator takes the exact same battery as every other manipulator.

You could afford the cheapest amp/manipulator right now, if you traded in your longcoat. They cost 3 tokens. You really shouldn't, though, because space magic with a -1 is... inadvisable. :P

The universal manipulator is basically the hardware from every other manipulator jammed into one. It seems logical that the universal amp would be the same thing. This requires more brain slots than most folks can give up.

I'm not responding to the first because there is probably no way to convince you.

The mass manipulation amp is a gravity and vector amp combined but it still only takes up one brain slot. A universal amp would allow the user to do everything, it would just be a less focused, less powerful kind of everything.

Actually a universal would be more focused and more powerful, after all its just a universal manipulator that runs directly off of your brain instead of a computer interface.

20 Universal Field Manipulator
Ammo: Battery good for 20 uses. Extra Batteries
are 3 token each.
Stat Requirement: 20 intelligence
Range:NA
Description: This little chunk of high science can
do everything the other field manipulators can do
and it can do them better
. It's immensely powerful
but the algorithms it uses to operate are so
complex that it will take a veritable genius to even
use it.

Clearly running multiple missions at the same time is a terrible idea.  The epic battle to see which team can cock it up worse has escalated again.

And Larry kinda gets blueballed in all this; just left with a raging bone spear and no where to put it.

God damn.

The 20 tokens are more of a barrier, I think, unless you luckily land an obscenely valuable mission objective/piece of loot.

Assuming that it works the way you think it does. And there's no reason to assume that.
It's entirely possible (and Occam-compliant) that the "universal amp" used by amp specialists is a bunch of other amps, all piled into one brain. This would also explain why they're not for sale--they don't technically exist.
Not to mention that the vector and gravity amps are pretty similar, so they're probably easier to combine than other amps would be.
