Actually you can check on the equip screen. It should show the soldier's paper doll there unless I'm mistaken.

And you can't check the equip screen until you go to a mission. Point is I name the soldiers as they show up and so sometimes the name doesn't match the gender.

Equip Craft -> Troop Transport Of Choice -> Equipment -> Inventory

Enjoy. Also:
You can even prep grenades/smokes in equip, and they stay so.
It's quite useful, saves TUs for having to prep that obligatory starting smoke at mission start.

You sure you're not talking about some X-COM spinoff, like Xenonauts or something? There's no "Inventory" in the craft's equipment screen.

Hm... Its there for mine, and I'm using OpenXcom. An old night build even. Should be in the bottom left. Odd, are you using a night build or just the main?

If you do have just the main, I should probably warn you that reaction shots don't work as they should. May be too late to address that, as I've no clue as to the save game compatibility.

Its like piecemeal updates, they do one big compilation every now and again. Your mostly just missing out on equipping outside of combat and tooltips for what some of the buttons on the battle map means, if I recall right. That and fixed reaction shots. Don't count on your soldiers taking shots at enemies often via reaction fire.

Neat, my dude continues to live on.

Well, despite my tale of being a badass in the field again (Killed more aliens, and am cooking some Sectoid jerky, as well as Snakeman jerky; you know, field rations), I didn't get any higher promotion. On the plus side, at least my reputation hasn't changed for the worse.

So much for setting me out into the field to die, huh? Sorry to disappoint, but I'm too awesome to die.

Speaking of which...

I can see why this is such a slaughter now, my own game seems to have working reactions.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

Is there a way to get reactions to fire in OpenXCom? I've never had a soldier fire a reaction shot.
