However, cyclones or similar storms are generated over the hot oceans in the subsolar areas frequently

We're going to see rains. Especially because we're near a mountain (which forces the rains to come down), and near the dark side of the planet.

However, flooding shouldn't be that much a problem.
Quote
Heart of Gold has come to rest in a long valley surrounded on three sides by mountains.  It opens up and falls off to a wide, sloping plain to the south; to the north is a long ridge stretching between the peaks to the east and west.  The bottom of the valley, where the ship landed, is largely flat, though a few spurs project out into it.  The ship has come to rest at the base of one of these.

Unless, there's a massive amount of rain, there won't be enough water to accumulate and flood us out. We should be worrying about landslides and run-off from the mountains, and the fact that we're in a glacial valley.

By Modular Domes are you referring to the ones designed in flight?  Because those take cement.  You can make some basic metal ones quite easily, but they will take more metal and be less sturdy.

You're right about the Engineering Action from the VR pod; adding it.

There are no signs of major water erosion that would indicate common floods, though there are some divots crossing the flatter parts of the ground.

Well, then. That changes things.  As we can't really acquire cement on a short note, it means we will have to make metal domes, and empathize digging.

1 Production or Repair action (Damage Control/Machine Shop) 4 Manpower.
         - Repair the General Laboratory

1 Construction action from the Powersuits. 2 Manpower
         - Construct a single metal dome. It won't be strong, but it doesn't need to last long. We'll recycle them soon enough.
         - If not enough materials, continue engine disassembly
         - Continue the road

1 Mining action from the D/D Vehicles. 2 Manpower
        - Continue Compound Phase 1
        - If finished, through some serious miracle, extend the central corridor deeper into the mountain

1 Engineering Action - design only - 1 Manpower
       - Update our modular design to work with the resources we have at hand. Ie, granite, and as little metals as possible.
       - Provide plans to aid our digging crew

You can vote for change though. Unless my last turn's plan, I'm not sure about this one, and there's probably significant room for improvement.

Update 24 - April, 2091

Quote
1 Production or Repair action (Damage Control/Machine Shop) 4 Manpower.
         - Repair the General Laboratory
51.  The damaged equipment of the General Laboratory is repaired or replaced, and by the end of the month the labratory is ready to work at full capacity.

Quote
1 Construction action from the Powersuits. 2 Manpower
         - Construct a single metal dome. It won't be strong, but it doesn't need to last long. We'll recycle them soon enough.
28  The powersuit crew do their best to build a dome from the metal salvaged from the engines, and though it is quite difficult, they do manage to set up a small dome by the road about halfway between the digsite and the ship with some help from bored off-duty crew.  While not very strong, or airtight, it should keep almost all of any rain which falls.
-0.5 Common Marterials
New building acquired: Improvised dome.  Not sealed.  Can hold a Small installation or equivalent (So, the Ore Processor, the Seed Bank, or the Sludge Processor, at the moment.  Also that electrolyzer.)

Quote
1 Mining action from the D/D Vehicles. 2 Manpower
        - Continue Compound Phase 1
        - If finished, through some serious miracle, extend the central corridor deeper into the mountain
91  This time, mining efforts go very well, the mining personel having learned the operation of the vehicles as well as the conditions of the ground here.  They complete the original plan of a hallway and two Medium caverns to the sides at great speed, and continue the hallway into the mountain for a few metres before the end of the month.  The rubble is dumped near the mouth of the dig.

The rock appears to be structurally sound without reinforcement - though there are some significant fissures running through it, there were no problems with stability during the mining.  Nothing but the granite rock has been found.

Compound Phase 1 completed

Quote
1 Engineering Action - design only - 1 Manpower
       - Update our modular design to work with the resources we have at hand. Ie, granite, and as little metals as possible.
(86 +5)91  The task given is quite difficult, but the engineers do it, sort of.  The plan they come up with essentialy takes large chunks of semi-worked stone and heaps them together, with metal struts used to keep them together and metal seams to provide sealing between the rocks.  This design loses basically everything desirable about the original designs, but can be produced with a minimum of materials.  Construction is extremely labor-intensive.  They do point out that some form of cement can likely by made from the local stone, with some experimentation, which would make concrete production viable.

New Construction project: Rock Dome.  Creates a Small structure with minimal metal input.  80 point project. Uses 0.1 Common Materials and lots of rock.

Quote
The 15 idle people-months
77 The sudden lack of work for most of the time comes unexpeced - while the assignments were cycled around, there was still an awful lot of free time left over.  Fortunately, the crew took this the opportunity to get organized and send out expeditions to explore the valley on foot, preventing the cramped spaces and lack of things to do from becoming a problem.  While nothing really helpful was discovered, they did bring in some samples of interesting-looking rocks and make a rough map of the valley.  They also found that large chunks of debris were scattered along the path of the ship's final approach, and while not a large amount of material it could potentially be collected.

Actions:

1 Production or Repair action from the Damage Control/Machine Shop, from anything which can be brought through the ship to it. 4 Manpower.
1 Construction action from the Powersuits. 2 Manpower.
1 Mining action from the D/D Vehicles. 2 Manpower.
1 Engineering Action - design only - from the VR pod in the Rec Commons.  Gains a penalty for very large or complex systems (like the new reactor design). 1 Manpower
Manpower: 23 Available

24 staff awake
-1 monitoring ship systems
35000 people in cryosleep

Life support: 25 (from ship)
        15 from CLLS
        10 from Biodome
Food production: 25 (from ship)
        15 from CLLS
        10 from Biodome
No food stores

Power: 37/150 used.  Uses .04 He-3 Fuel /month.

Resources:
2.1x  Basic Parts
3.7x  Advanced parts
1.0x  Advanced Medical Supplies
2.0x  Pressurized Air
25.42x He-3 Fuel

Bonuses:
Admiral Ellis Wright: Organization+, Morale++, Leadership++
+5 Rugged Construction of the ship.

Shouldn't we get an action from the laboratory?

1 Production or Repair action from the Damage Control/Machine Shop . 4 Manpower.
     - Build cement producing add-on

1 Construction action from the Powersuits. 13 Manpower.
      - Install General laboratory in cave 1
      - Install Automated production line in cave 2
      - Install Ore processor in the metal dome (Debatable, as we probably want to scrap the dome quite soon for materials)
      - Finish the road
      - Engine dissassembly

1 Mining action from the D/D Vehicles. 2 Manpower.
     - Commence Compound mining phase 2*

1 Engineering Action - design only - from the VR pod in the Rec Commons. 5 Manpower
     - Design cement producing add-on for ore processor
     - Design ground echoing system to scan for minerals.

*Note to self: Write down phase 2

I dunno... actions dependable on other actions isn't something I like. Maybe let's start constructing rock dome instead?

I'd dig some exploratory shafts not too close to the compound. It's  good to know what is below us and we may find important resources for cement, like technical water (cement without water is hard to do... And water has many other uses like cooling for our future systems )

We have no need to expand our compound, yet

We have a high chance of designing a cement maker, since it is easy and should be present in the databases we brought with us.

1 Mining action from the D/D Vehicles. 2 Manpower.
     - Create a large chamber in the center of the compound, with enough room for the housing of 35000 people and the equipment that contains.
     - Dig 3 medium sized caves branching off of this area. Nothing within them for now.

1 Engineering Action - design only - from the VR pod in the Rec Commons. 5 Manpower
     - Design cement producing add-on for ore processor
     - Design ground echoing system to scan for minerals.

*Note to self: Write down phase 2

Here's my edits. A few minor ones, but I agree overall.

I don't intend to ever build said rock dome. It's fragile, consumes metals (which we don't have), and isn't all that usefull. Also, it's a production action, not the construction action which would be needed for the dome.

Also, we have plenty of reasons to expand our compound. Besides, I'm not sure how good the D&D vehicles are at drilling down.

We need room for:
    - Habitation
    - Storage
    - Organic sludge processor Cost 2 RU, Size 2, Mass 1.
    - Optronic Central Computer.  Cost 10 RU. Size 2. Mass 2.
    - Seed Bank. 2 RU, 4 mass, 3 size
    - Ore refinering installation (I don't intend to leave it outside)

Digging & drilling vehicles. Cost 2 RU, Size 4, Mass 4. A pair of advanced vehicles... Advanced servo technology allows them to dig even straight down, or make 90 degree turns in spaces smaller than they are...

We have a high chance of designing a cement maker, since it is easy and should be present in the databases we brought with us.
The aforementioned databases (blueprints, at least) are, I believe, in the Central Computer, which we'll need to set up first.

Correct, so that's why we wouldn't need it. Also, I wasn't suggesting we use the D&D vehicles to dig down, just make an enlarged center chamber. Possibly from one of the routes we already have in. The smaller caves can be used for the extra facilities, the main one is for Habitation and Storage.

We also need an electrolyzer, or hydroponics.
