I have an interesting(in my opinion) idea for a mafia game.
In the game, themed around a school of battle magic:
There are 3 town power roles, 2 scum with shotted powers, and 4 basically vanilla townies.
What sets this game aside from the others is Elements:
Each player is assigned a single element(pyromancy, geomancy, electromancy).
When a kill is made, it has a specific way it shows up once the day comes(as in, the corpse has been burned/appears to have received electrical burn marks/looks bashed beyond belief).
The scum receive Elements also.
In addition to the lynch, the town gets a public element inspection decided via a secondary vote.
This can lead to interesting ways of confirming people as town(no kill has come as electricity, Toonyguy is electric element, he must not be scum).
Power roles:
Town:
Inquisitor:
Each night you may visit a player, while wearing a mask, and torture the knowledge of what their element is out of them, to learn for yourself what it is(and block them in the process).
Guardian:
Each night you may protect a player, causing any kill action that would kill them to hit you instead. You may survive one kill in the game, but not more.
Thaumaturge:
You have 3 single-use abilities:
Power Word: You may use this in the day to make your vote count double(it doesn't show up as that though).
Oracle: You learn what target player's element is, used during the night.
Elemental Blast: You kill your target using your element, used during the night.
Dark Mages:
Fell Inquisitor:
Twice in the game you may use your fell magics during the night to rip at a target player's soul, learning for yourself if they are a town power role and if so, what it is. If they are not a power role, you automatically learn their element also.
Dark Elementalist:
Once in the game you may make a night kill with an element of your choice rather than your own element.
Thoughts?
