Well, the Kitty part is because I like cats (which is pretty obvious, I think). But all the simple versions of cat, kitty, kitten etc. are always taken everywhere (as there are many people who like us, little kitty bastards), so I needed something more... Sophisticated. And I was listening Blind Guardian at the time. Thus, Blind Kitty was born...
I've actually found out that this name is sometimes taken, too, when there are more people around (initially I was using it on pretty obscure forum, and I was widely considered to be a female because of that - which lead to some hilarious situations, given I was there mainly for PBF RPGs), as people consider young (and thus not yet seeing) kittens to be super-adorable (and the actual badassness of the nick is lost to them, as nobody seems to think 'blind warrior monk that is a fluffy badass kung-fu master', and rather just 'little blind kitty that needs to be taken care of'). And I'm sometimes going by other names, because of that. I think I need a new nick, actually, to keep more consistency because of it, but it seems like too much hassle, especially considering that I usually can't change the nicks whenever I already have declared them (as for example, on this forum).
As an example, in Tribes: Ascension I go by the CarbonCat. It is taken even more often than BlindKitty, but somehow it was left free when I made my account there. But if I'm not mistaken now, BlindKitty was actually free on Battlelog when I made myself there. It's pretty complicated stuff, those usernames. :D

I was 15 and I wanted to have something witty and something that would point that I'm male.

So, I grabbed some word and from it I've substracted 'is'.

Now you know~

Five syllabla is a bit much when many can't handle three :P.
I really like monosyllabic usernames like Squill, or even just any username that is very simple, and with no numbers. To me, the more simple a nickname is, the more original it seems, because names like XxSqUiLlxX suggest that just plain Squill was taken, making your name seem just a little bit like a clone of another name.

Really? Someone created a username just to fuck with me?
That's kinda hilarious.
Once I was playing a game, and my username was Jesus. Some guy named Rush_Speed or something started complaining about it, so I quit the game and came back as Rush_Is_An_Ass. He promptly left the game in disgrace.

Neyvn is an old one, stolen from a Novel. Silverdaggers I think it was called. One of the characters was called Neyvn, meaning No One in the stories language. So yeah...

My current Username if I could change to is now AUSGrizzly...
Due to my family and such calling me a bear due to how I act (NOT the gay version, didn't find that out till a few days later T_T )
I threw an AUS at the start cause a lot of folks on the net thought I was a Brit...

Years ago i was using a nickname Acolyte (sometimes acolyte17) till some day i saw a captcha with the word Sonlirain.
I immediately decided that Acolyte is lame and overused and switched to Sonlirain because it sounds... well better.

And as a bonus since it's a random mashup of letters literally noone uses it and i never get informed that my name i use everywhere is TAKEN.

An in-joke between me and my best friend during my teenage years.

And a monkey.  Because monkey.

Luckily, the pseudo-word 'Woob' isn't in common usage anywhere I know of, so it's easy to use as a unique handle.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.
