I was 15 and trying to come up with a name for a rogue in EQ that sounded like ninja but wasn't. After like 20 minutes I came up with a good name. I think it's the hardest I've ever worked on a character name.

So I just stuck with it and kept using it.

In my early days of being a dedicated DF player (before Real Life had to get in the way), I decided to take up a new online identidy using the dwarven language. It's more a self-identifier kind of name.

In summary, Itnetlolor = Uncertain Letter; Itnet = Uncertain, Lolor = Letter. So far, it's done me well.

I think Valican started when I played Digimon World. Its an anagram of my first name with an extra A thrown in to sound cooler. I forgot where ultra came from, I think it was when I made a youtube account. Most characters I create are basically named Valican, Valzy, Val something.

I have pretty mediocre vision, so I thought it would be amusing.

Huh, I always thought your name means "he who laughs at the Internet".

As much as I hate to admit it, this name started with Runescape. I was thinking, "man, I HATE all those names with numbers after them. I need something no one else will have thought of. Maybe some kind of generic, non-cool name? There's billions of possible ones and they can't all be taken..." So, as Luman is not a surname you see everyday, I find it's conveniently unused everywhere I go. I'd say what I use in the rare instances it's taken/won't fit, but that's a security risk.

I've always wondered how many people on the internet think it's my real name...

My first City of Heroes character.

I... I think I saw you in that game.

Could mean that too, depending on the situation.

Mine's a pun or something like that. Made it up many years ago when "pwn" was commonly used by gamers. Noticed it fit nicely with Panzerfaust, and here I am. Also, it alludes to my German origin.

My previous online handle was FluffyGimp. Before I realised what a gimp was besides a cripple.

Cool :)  Unless I was making a dumb mistake that caused a team wipe or something at the time, in which case, d'oh :P

Nah. I was waiting on a group from DFB and your name came up in the global chat. I think I saw you heading towards city hall. Did you have Flight?

Yeah, I had Flight/Hover on pretty much permanently, as part of his look.

Way back in the days of Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne, when the custom maps were populated by thousands and you could always find a game of NotD:Aftermath being hosted, I had an account named DarkCalling.  I was 10, sue me.  Anyway, hung out with a specific set of friends at the time and they were extrapolating their names into longer, more formal names.  I wanted in, and they went ahead and used DARK and made me the name:

Drakthan Aldos Resken Karkov.

Drakthan and Karkov both stuck, I use them interchangeably at times.  I usually go by Karkov nowadays because it's easy to remember for a lot of people (moreso than the whole DARKthan thing that people made fun of me for).  Fun fact:  I didn't actually know that Karkov is a cheap vodka until about 2 years ago.

I always thought it was related to Kharkov/Kharkiv.
