Man, I'm loving this game but the game-breaking bugs made me rage quit and I don't even want to touch the game until they get addressed.

 What bugs? The game will periodically get stuck when you exit conversation, store or crafting interfaces and the only fix is to out. So basically, doing quests, using merchants or trying to craft will force you to log in and out repeatedly. These SAME bugs were in the last beta weekend so I dunno what the devs have been up to.

edit: found out that a fix for this is to use the /reloadui command. Deeerp.
IIRC, you can also enter and exit the mail screen to fix it, which is much faster.
or you can type "/reloadui" in chat...then you get a short loading screen and its ok again

hehe...ok...now I see the "edit" ;)

Hm...I must admit, they made the pvp interesting, not because of the combat(quite a few of the siege weapons do next to nothing), but because you get equipment in the mail as your playing, so you don't need to worry about being undergeared...not that it maters since from what I can tell, the stats are fixed...but it maters if you leave cyrodil and go back to pve.

Dammit, Kazerad, I want to play that game. So much.

Didn't even participate in this weekend's final beta. Couldn't think of any reason to; it's not a really bad game, but... nothing to hold interest.

Dammit, Kazerad, I want to play that game. So much.

The sad thing is that a lot of its ideas would be relatively easy to implement as a MMO. Admittedly the stuff about leveling, progression and quest rewards wouldn't be used in a MMO, but the stuff with the main towns being different daedric planes? Or the quests/dungeons being small instances/levels in the real world? That is frankly a rather brilliant idea for a MMO.

It's admittedly pretty generic. A lot of stuff he complains about other MMOs doing in that satire ESO does.  Like you'll often see a bunch of players bunched up around a central quest NPC because EVERYBODY is doing that one quest.  It really does fail pretty hard at the usual you are the chosen one thing.  But it's not the first or even third MMO I've played that tried to make you seem special in a format where you clearly are not.

It has phasing like WoW does.  Which does work a little bit at making stuff you do seem more permanent.  For example I played as an aldmeri cat for 2 of the betas, and one of the quest on summerset isles involves a town being burned by a rebel group

.  Once I handled the quest when I came back to that town it was a gutted burnt ruin which is a nice bit of permanency.
That did however have a downside, as I could not help another player through that quest.  Whenever I went there we disappeared on eachothers clients, as we were out of phase from eachother.

Some quests also have multiple paths that determine the outcome, and they are helpfully pointed out in red in the conversations to indicate it's an important choice. I haven't seen any other mmo do that myself and I thought that was neat.  Unfortunately such quests don't appear to be too common.

A big downside I saw is that there does not appear to be any kind of trading post for selling or buying items with the general public.  There is a guild shop, and that appears to be the closest thing, but if you are like me and prefer small kinda socialist style close knit guilds it is going to be completely worthless.  Even during the beta zone chat was often being spammed by people trying to sell items.

What got me to buy was the PvP.  If you've played GW2 WvW it's pretty much the same thing, except with a larger map and shorter range siege engines.  There's no trebbing one keep from within another which really pissed me off about GW2's WvW after they increased siege range.  Also while stealth is quite effective everybody can do it.  They may not be particularly good at it, but if a place is plagued by stealth ambushers there really isn't anything keeping anyone from just stealthing past the dangerous spot.  I played as a cat nightblade in medium armor, pretty much the stealthiest you can be, and it still didn't seem all that overpowered when your opponent can counter just by going into stealth themselves forcing what amounts to old WW2 submarine vs submarine warfare.

Horses are expensive, and imperial edition players get one basically for free, which will probably amount to an early advantage, but as more and more people buy the standard horses I think that will get evened out.

It seems you can make just about any weapon you could ever want.  It appears possible to even make basic crafted gear legendary quality.  Though researching traits is a time consuming process (you have to destroy an item in the crafting bench to learn how to make the same item with the same traits, but it takes half a day to research one trait) it allows some great customization.  There are also hidden crafting stations in the wilderness, that allow you to create equipment with set bonuses assuming you are good enough at the craft.  You are not limited on how many crafts you can use, but you use skill points from leveling up to gain skills in your crafting, so if you choose to be a master craftsman you may not be as versatile in combat as others.

Combat itself seems to be a step down from skyrim.  There are no directional power attacks, and bows have a max range.  You are only given 5 skill slots, which I like, but some people may find that restricting.

Let me be honest here: the plot of the game? The lore? The parts people whine about the most?

Easily the best since Morrowind. Seriously, the stuff they released seemed really bad piece by piece, but put it all together and... holy shit, they know what they're doing.

For example, there's constant hints that the world is in some terrible dragon break at the moment. Books from the late 4th era (Ruminations on the Elder Scrolls by Septimus Signus) appear... and they mention that it must be a "transcription error" (there's that term again!) that it says it's from the 4th era. But it's not and the writers know that. Books from Imperial Geographic Society which was founded by Tiber Septim show up and nothing is brought up about them. And the biggest hint of all is the biggest complaint I've seen:

There are a multitude of Soulless Ones... but everyone seems to think that there's only one. And everyone thinks that except in one place: Cyrodiil, the heart of Tamriel, where Akatosh's influence is at its greatest, where the Red Diamond makes its home, where the Dragonborn King makes his/her throne. The Soulless One being many seems to be a result of this dragon break... and the dragon break seems to be a result of the Soulless One losing their soul.

Not to mention that ESO contributes just as much to the overarching meta-plot of the main series just as much as Skyrim did. Michael Kirkbride introduced the Towers, Skyrim showed that one fell with every game (except Arena), Elder Scrolls Online fleshes out the towers as much as Kirkbride ever did and tied Arena in with the Towers plot and gave us some really interesting Bosmer lore with one book.

It also gives us a brilliant example of what Elder Scrolls lore is all about: disagreeing viewpoints on similar issues. Phrastus of Elinhir and Lady Cinnabar of Taneth are both writers who write educational essays; however, they disagree on... a lot, and they're very petty about it. Cinnabar says that Cyrodiil used to be a jungle and wants to find out why it isn't anymore. Phrastus says she's a dummy and it's clearly a transcription error (that's where that term came from, btw). Phrastus says Daedric worship is immoral and no civilized races practice it. Cinnabar says that Khajiit and Ashlanders do and that he's an old goat who's spiteful about her not sleeping with him on Sanguine's summoning day. It's incredible.

I think that Zenimax made a huge mistake in how they presented the new stuff in the previews. I guess whomever wrote the Ask Anything answer that first brought up this whole "transcription error" thing about didn't really know what they were talking about, or weren't very clear.

Currently debating whether or not I will buy it, though, since paying every month for an already expensive game is not exactly appealing.
