This sounds like a great idea, so donation away! I'd certainly agree with the sentiment that Elves or Warlocks make the best choice because of how different they are. I like the idea of elves growing a fortress, or being able to breed and sacrifice them to Armok like the Nobles of old. Warlocks sound awesome as well, with undead armies and magic stitching everything together.

You should go see St. Nicholas' Cathedral while there. You shan't be disappointed.

If Warlocks will be the winners, I think I will make them a dual race, of demons and warlocks... ash brutes and sucubi and witches; maybe some interaction that a warlock binds a demon to himself, which might burst out. Can be good or bad, depending on situation.

I think Warlocks it is. I dont want to call anything too soon, but not many people have been voting the last week, and the last donation 10 days ago. It seemed to have died down, and I'd love to make good use of the time I have, and start brainstorming about the Warlocks.

Just going to say that the Iteru are going to be decently necromantic, so there might be differences but yeah you might want to go the demonology route for them instead of necromantic stuff.

I planned on Warlocks as main civ-creature that interact with demons, but at a low number. The rest are skeletons, dumb civ members for simple tasks.  So all menial labor is done by undeads.
