Well, they seem to have made some changes to the ending screen regardless.  Nothing that will dramatically impact anyone's experience i think, but it does make it more obvious who's together.

Treant Protector is fun.  Living armor is simple to use but constantly watching the map is engaging and its rewarding to see your ally get out at 10 health and know they only lived because of you.  As is my way recently, I love building HH on him.  Buy a BKB or suffer a 9 second disarm bitches.

My favorite thing to do as Treant is to rush aghs and put the wards on every camp and spam r for the dope gpm.

It only works because I'm a 2k mmr scrub but its still good fun.

You see, I was very much concerned that I'd break my abstinence and begin playing DotA again now that this semester is over. But after reading this changelog and realizing it's pretty much a completely different game now I lost all the will to return, I have no idea what IF thinks he's doing anymore.

They took out leveling stats and added major interesting perks. I'm fine with this. Just because another game which you don't like has a similar mechanic doesn't make it bad.

The playercount would disagree with you. That's ~30% of the average playerbase gone in the past year from all the recent patches which basically made the game more casual and more like LoL.

To be fair, it does mean that it's returning to the average playercount of the past years... but that merely means the game is stagnating. It's like it hit its peak and can't seem to overcome it.

Personally I gave up on this game mostly because I hate what Valve has become.

that chart is actually really really bad. As in, it's literally not displaying the information correctly. When the granularity of the measurement increases, the chart starts having the cyclical dips with peak times and days, and instead of taking the average across the peaks like it did before it now integrates the better function. It was massively overestimating before, or is massively underestimating now. The playerbase now is the same as it was a year ago. There's a weird 300k player bump around february, but whether that's another oddity in data collection, or a large mass of players who were psychic and new IF was going to add intelligence scaling spell damage before that patch was published is anyone's guess.
