I've managed to crawl back into 1000 MMR! I sunk down to 850 from the A-Z challenge and gave up halfway because of how awful the heroes I was stuck on were. Huzzah!

One thing I noticed about Slark (for me personally,) is that, along with his lovely accent, I can never have an "okay" game as him. I either carry the team 25-3, diving into 3:1 engagements and snatching a kill before running away in a very macho fashion, or I die in every teamfight and get zero farm. Never the middle ground.
This is very true. I've also noticed that Slark is basically unplayable before level 6. Then he suddenly becomes a god because he's always at full hp. His ult is just insane.

There are awful heros? I can understand there being heros who only do decent in certain situations...but so far I'm not seeing any that are awful. Of coarse it might be I don't see it because I've noticed most consider jakiro to be awful yet that is my favorite hero I tend to do decently even when the bkbs appear on the enemy team. I guess its also because I have 181 games and majority has been some sort of random mode, usually when I queue up I tend to select single draft, random draft and all random

There aren't awful heroes, just heroes you're bad at. Jakiro ain't awful, just... not as good, same as Drow Ranger and other such heroes you don't see in competitive play much which really doesn't matter at the skill level people like me are at.

It's mainly the ones that take coordination. In 1000 MMR pubs a hero that takes coordination is almost impossible to play as without a party or the gods of luck on your side. Super farm reliant carries like Antimage are also difficult if you get a 5 carry team and most of the enemy carries take less farm than you so they can end up killing you easily. Or heroes that are easily countered by the draft, e.g. Broodmother against AoE nukes.

Jakiro isn't "not that good" at all, he's just a standard spell-spamming support. BKBs counter spell-spammers generally. Crystal Maiden was super popular a while back in the pro scene but BKB makes her lose tons of her effectiveness. Still good for when their BKBs are down of course. I find building Jakiro as an aura support works well, just getting him tons of auras for his team so even if the BKBs block his spells he's contributing.

Note that these supports also have utility outside of being a 'standard spell-spamming support.' Jakiro, for instance, adds a lot when pushing down towers due to his Liquid Fire, and CM's Brilliance Aura can turn low-int Str heroes from merely tough to scary spell-monsters.

Cyborgmatt is showcasing Techies on his twitch right now. Went through all the lines. He's currently trying to get the cart to work. The models of the techies themselves is working fine, though the skill icons are awfully silly.

Continuing to have a shitty time :C

I really want to like dota, Russians and Brazilians and all, but god damn it doesn't want me to like it.

So much fake difficulty in the interface for fanboys to feel haughty about.  In League I can hit tab and immediately see my opponent's build, score, cs, everything relevant to my gameplay choices.  In dota no target panels means I have to click the enemy to see his build and I can't act while I'm checking it.  As far as interface and clarity goes League is miles ahead.

League's choking on its own meta but at least the overreliance on the meta means people tend to pick semi-functional teams.  In dota people pick whatever the fuck they want.  If I have any integrity at all as far as picking to fit my team goes I'm pretty much doomed to play support every single game, and half the games I play are obviously over before the minions spawn though the usual terribad pub moba players mean it's never guaranteed.  Most of the time I end up playing Lion, buying the courier and upgrade and all the wards and dust and whatever else we need, trying to cc for my team and watching them just egregiously fuck everything up.

I could get over all that and just power through the low levels as best I can if it weren't for the interface.  If it weren't for the interface I'd drop league in a heartbeat.

There are panels at the top that you can click whenever the enemy is within your vision.

On the flip side I tried playing LoL again, got back on my beta account and played about 5 games and then uninstalled. Maybe I am just too used to Dota 2 but I just did not find LoL fun at this time (I will say I found it decent during beta). I don't really want to talk trash on it, im sure its fun for others but I couldn't see it.

Also, the tab key is reserved specifically for switching between your units you control, which AFAIK isn't really a thing in LoL (micro is anti-fun, just like healers, skills that you don't know what they do the instant they're used and stuns that aren't skillshots).

The whole reason you can't see somebody's build at all times and have to click on them every time you see them actually dates back to the WC3 engine where this whole Doter thing got cooked up in the first place.  Couldn't see an enemy due to the fog of war, didn't know what was on them.

Also it brings a whole element of surprise that the pro players use/count on during their games.  They'll keep the Earthshaker hidden right after he gets his blink dagger, just so he can pounce on an unsuspecting team and get his echo slam off.  I get your beef with it, but there are some reason for it being as it is.

Not to mention that it's definitely not "fake difficulty", since it applies to everyone and the only reason you're even thinking about it is because you're so used to LoL's way of doing things. Everyone has the same limitations as you, so it's not really that bad.

So my computer ended up crashing on me during a game we were winning, the team I was on was still able to win 4 vs 5 and tried to pause the game for me, but ONE enemy team kept unpausing it which caused me to miss the 5 minute window by 5 seconds, any recommendations?
