Well...I still wanted to look and see what I could have done on my end, found a few programs that was set to be run on startup, one of which was a concern to me named akami netsession which when I looked it up, I found that it installs itself along with certain programs(namely some launchers) and will join the computer into a peer to peer network to host content for companies looking to reduce the load on their servers, which is why I found my hard drive to be close to full despite not installing anything and when my network showed it was uploading quite a bit. It uninstalled itself through the control pannel but left something to run on startup or simply didn't remove itself from the to startup list.

Regardless, I managed to get it so its 4 minutes from when I push the power button to when I'm in the dota 2 main menu, so hopefully even if my computer does crash on me I can get back into the game before the abandonment penalty.

If you're worried about being sent to low priority, you should be perfectly fine.

Yeah, I have like, 3 abandons (and they were all intentional) on my account and I've never been in low prio. If it's your first time and it was a disconnect abandon, you probably won't get it.

I am interested in playing some low prio though, hehe. Anyone here there? I don't wanna do it myself >_>

I wasn't worried about being sent to low priority, I was worried about my computer crashing again in the middle of a game and not being able to reconnect in time. Besides...its been ingrained in me that if I make a mistake then I need to act to correct it before it reoccurs.

What benefits are there to being low priority?

It's something different. That's pretty much the only benefit. No experience or item drops, just... a bunch of people who yell at others a lot.

I played low priority a few times with Lucky.  If you've seen Bronze V or watched the stream where Saintvicious got his elo hacked to 0, it's a lot like that.

You can pick and buy whatever you want and win, people disconnect at the drop of a hat, it's pretty much just fucking around.

Antimage grabs his battlefury at 30 minutes, calls you a puta.

Yeah, they seem more... Relaxed?  But at the same time most of the people who go there are crazy angry for no real reason or another.

It's a strange land.

I played some low prio before when my friend got shafted there (repeatedly). It's amusing, but not someplace I would want to go regularly.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to buy a timeshare there, to say the least.

I guess I'm just having the worst luck in games now, had a game that went 60 minutes, we pushed down the rax then the two towers guarding the throne...and 2 wander off to push other lanes dispite the fact the enemy team was catching up, they then wipe up and win within 2 minutes. I have to ask, why are carries so afraid of finishing the game?

I'm sorry if I come across as whinny...this is ONLY the 5th game I've lost in a row. hm...I just noticed, the game that was abandoned was considered a loss...so make that 7 :(

First off, this game should come with a big addiction warning, like cigarettes.

I've had a few strange matchups recently, against opposing teams that were either walkovers or really hard... and then it seems to have settled down into really closely matched games the last few.  Can the more experienced players tell me if they ever felt matchmaking was aggressively trying to create a 50% win rate?  Or just that just emerge by shifting you up or down a bit each match?

Also, I've noticed quite a few are teamed up, do you guys play in teams or by yourself?

So disappointed DF didn't come out today so I could break the Dota habit.   :'(

Matchmaking does try to keep a 50% winrate, yes. It's a bit shakier at first, then it stabilizes after a while.

Teams are better. I have no friends, so I don't play in teams.

I haven't been playing with people but I really should.  Here's me.

I really really want to like Dota.  Every time I play league I'm reminded of why I want to play dota.  Morello straight up said in his twitter the only reason Lee Sin hasn't been nerfed is that he's too popular to nerf, as one example.  And league's started to get kind of stale, I don't remember the last time I actually lost my lane, including people who really should've countered me.

But low level dota makes low level league look like challenger.  Like I said, low level players hug the meta too much in League when they aren't skilled enough for it to matter but at least there's some kind of thought being put into teamcomps.  Low level dota is a mess.

So yeah, I'm totally up for playing with bay12ers where I can learn mechanics in a sensible environment.  I actually kind of like supporting, Lion is a lot of fun, but it's no fun with randoms.

And then as if to say "you're gonna have a shitty time either way, may as well play the better game," udyr feeds my top lane doublebuff and first blood.

I have no frame of reference really, but now I've played about 60 games I assume I'm with similar peeps and everyone kind of automatically starts working together like an ant colony.  Usually.  I like the minimal-interaction-but-everything-works-well games.

I like supporting with Venomancer.  Just love dropping plague wards all over the place and (hopefully!) shutting down carries.
