I'm confused, why do you want to be without magic at the beginning? And under what circumstances do you want number 1?

I like number one, but Kassen wouldn't have practiced that type of magic before his vision. So, if I'm without magic, I'll be able to learn the one that would be best for Kassen's new personality.

Barring that, I could say there was a time frame before he left for the city that he learned Ancestor's Protection from his shaman, or some travelling cleric. I just thought it would be an interesting roleplaying opportunity, to learn the magic from scratch from some NPC.

Ah, okay. So you want one after you find it in the game, or do you want me to gen a new one later? Either way, I'll get the IC thread active soon, with you starting w/o magic.

You really can both sig it.
But... That would break the laws of sigging! We can't have everyone running around with the same quotes. IT MAKES THEM UNFUNNY FASTER!

That's fine, the turns don't have to pass extraordinarily quickly.

To clarify this turn, Silcugar and Wolfchild entered into conversations, and so their actions were being resolved during this turn. Everyone else took actual actions, and results will be posted once Silcugar's conversation is done. Combat will be handled in a similar way.

To be honest, I don't think that rolling for each line of conversation is a good idea. I've tried that myself, and the results have been... well... schizophrenic a lot of the time. You can kind of see it here already in wolfchild's case.

I mean, it's like:

"Hi, what's up?"

(5) "I'm feeling perfectly wonderful this fine day. And how are you, good sir?"

"Oh, you know, life goes on and all that."

(1) "Wait, shit, sorry. I forgot that I actually hate you. Why don't you just go and die horribly someplace? That'd be great, thanks."

I think it would be better to just roll for an NPC's general attitude, really. The mood they're in, so to speak. Otherwise, you get a world filled with people who are totally random in their socialization patterns, and this neither reflects reality in any particular way nor is very fun.

And if the usefulness of Charisma is then called into question, just have it be the only good method of changing somebody's attitude in dialogue.

I'm thinking I maybe agree with you.

Also to consider would be a situation where you keep rolling extreme results. For instance, how to write a situation where the NPC's reaction rolls are, in order, 5, 2, 3, 6, 2, 2, 5, 4, 1.

Basically you'd end up with a world full of passive agressive people and it'd be impossible to form any kind of relationship with people.

And so, here at the end of days, you are as you’ve always been. Willing to die. Not willing to quit.

Vengeance is mine saith the Lord but this morning. He's going to fucking well have to share.

Is she worth it, would you burn the city to save her? For her, I'd burn the world.

Yeah, I'll change that. I think I'll make Charisma important in some other way. Maybe have more complex roles for actions like bargaining, or joining a group.

Any other changes people would like to see/would be helpful?

Should my actions be more general? I don't want to hold up the turns.

And yeah, I agree. I find charisma rolls kind of hinder the roleplaying process. That's why I usually add bonuses to good argument, negative modifiers to bad ones, and let the dice decide if the person is an asshole or not.
