Journal
------------
Ok, I wake up this morning and suddenly we have a massive group of every kind of everyone here. What the hell.
...
Anyways, we're all in the same boat, so introductions are made and we're off to make sure nobody starves to death!
Oh, wait, right. This is what happened during the week. Really shouldn't forget about it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Unit: Kesh
Not sure what he was thinking, but apparently he wanted his guys to go looking for stuff underground. We're still above ground. One week later we're still above ground.
He told his miners to start digging for living space, and his miners just started blankly at him, shrugged, and milled about. Kesh was nowhere to be seen until today, actually. kind of weird.
Either way they didn't really get a lot done. The gatherers got some foraging stuff above ground though, what with all the free time.
(Gatherer skill +2, dev+1)
(Gathered 80 units of food)
(Loafers gathered 230 units of food)
Unit: Kaian-a-coel
These guys...are a bit paranoid. They came onto the scene and started arranging for patrols to ward off enemies or wild animals or whatever. We've seen a lot of small things but nothing major, y'know?
Arguably he's got a better head on his neck than that Kesh guy, or maybe it's because he didn't come with miners. Either way, most of his elves were down by the forest gathering fruit, or in the waters fishing. Must suck having to fish by hand, even if they are elves.
...well, his farmers aside. They were told to start planting farms but didn't have any tools to do it with.
(Fishermen skill +2, dev +0.7)
(Orchardeer skill +2, dev + 0.6)
(Farmer skill +1, dev +0.1)
(Gathered 80 units of food)
(Loafers gathered 10 units of food)
Unit: Keeper
Ohey, walking humans with cat ears and tail. If elves are pretty then these things are cute.
Could do with a little less noise. Elves seem to think so too.
Anyways. The Keeper cat... Hang on.
Ok, One of 'em called itself a "Neko". I'm gonna go with that. Easier to write than "Cat-person". I didn't get out much.
ONTOPICNOW Keeper's Neko farmers spent the remainder of the first week looking for seeds to plant. Pretty smart of him, considering they're gonna make the tools this week, probably.
Yep, probably. Their builders went around and got wood and stone and shit from the surrounding areas, pretty sure it's not enough to actually build anything drastic, unless the catfolk enjoy driving stakes into the ground with their hands.
Unit: Sergei
Remember when I said Kaian was a bit paranoid? This guy's got that paranoid down to a p.
First order of business he tells his guys to go build a smeltery. Blacksmithing equipment. So it's kind of understandable when his Catfolk Nekos were a bit confused about the order.
Oh, and he has them chopping trees. They can't chop trees because they don't have axes. That being said the lumberjacks weren't stupid and went around gathering tinder and other stuff.
But still. It's like he's expecting an invasion or something. Sheesh.
(Axemen skill +1, dev +0.1)
(Loafers gathered 50 food)
Unit: Mick
More human faces, huzzah! (The Nekos don't count on account of having pointy ears and cuteness).
This guy, he knows what's up. His builders got detailed instructions on what to look for and they're going about their business all professional like.
"Fishers fish".
Well, uh...he's terse, I guess.
Oh and his lumberjacks are going around looking for trees. There's a giant forest of trees, enjoy.
What's the difference between a lumberjack and an axemen anyway?
Unit: Kwaa-naa
Well, I woke up and the camp is in chaos. Keep in mind it's not a real camp because Spring's actually pretty good, it's a tad breezy, but quite bearable, so we've all been more or less sleeping outside. Some town, eh?
So anyways today a group of bird folk descended on our now quite sizeable "encampment". I'm not sure if the Nekos were happy or mad, because I can't tell, they're just too bloody loud.
At least they're friendly once we got them catfolk properly calmed down n'shit. Sheesh...
So anyways, these Avians. Turns out the majority of them are hunters, and having wings, a good eye, and sharp talons make them very damned good at their job.
The ones that weren't out hunting (a very small group) went and played with some of the catfolk. Not sure who was happier about that.
Unit: Promtho
Ok, these guys were interesting. They managed to scare our elves a little bit. With a little prodding they introduced themselves as half-elves.
Now, relations between species were never that strained (except the goblins, but that's more of just really sour history) and intermixing's pretty common, but apparently the pureblooded Elves have never seen people this...odd.
I've heard of something called an Uncanny Valley and I'm guessing these Half-Elves go straight into it as far as the normal elves are concerned.
Right, tasks.
Most of the guys that showed up are scholars, apparently staff for the five mages and they immediately got to work making books. Again, we're all homeless, blah blah blah.
Their mages, though, are doing some kind of research on summoning "followers". Not much of a mage myself but that sounds useful. I got some of the pureblood elves to help 'em out, since their magic runs stronger, but the half-elves seem to be doing fine. Must be that human ingenuity at play.
Local Flora Updated!
Local Fauna Updated!
====================
In case you're wondering, the flora and fauna are currently identified under the system of "hey look we can use that plant for that thing".
Local thoughts
1. Wish we had a roof
2. Where do we keep all this food?
3. Where'd our tools go?
Alrighty. Suggest what to do for next week!
If you feel the need/urge/whatever to write your own journal (about how bad this town is) by all means do so. you can put your job list in it too, as long as
you make it noticeable so I don't have to reread it to sift every time.
Notes
1. Every race has its own ideas of what a "house" looks like, and it usually is elaborate.
2. Unpreserved and uncovered food can and will attract unwanted (and unsmart) visitors.
3. Trade will not start until the first two months are over, thus no intelligent enemies will arrive within the first three months, at the very least.
4. Basic spellbooks can be used as batteries, if given the proper application.
Week 3 will occur Monday Evening.
