:"Heh, yeah, I've got a big list of things I only really half-understand too. We're all gonna keep him reaaaal busy, huh?"

The nomad sniffed, but looked up into Leo's eyes rather than continue to stare into her second drink.

: "Fer real? Y'ain't just sayin' that, right Preacher? I mean, I guess I can understand the whole story aspect, but fer a while there it just seemed like no one wanted me on the throne at all."

[Xanmyral]

As people filtered out, Sheila approached one of the few left. "Fezz, you gonna be okay tomorrow?"

Fezz had stayed quiet during most of the conversation, letting the task before them sink in. It took a few moments before what Sheila said filtered past his hair and into his brain.

The historian was silent as he thumbed the pages of the new tome he got, a stylized stitch-work of a red finger pointing down on a generic figure on the leather binding. "I bought the tomes for a reason. I just struggle to remember the reason sometimes. I'll be fine."

"...Sorry, I'm just tired. Don't take much stock in what I'm saying right now, I haven't been sleeping well." The scholar apologized as he put the book back in his cloak.

"If you say so. Is there any particular reason you haven't been sleeping well? Something you might wanna talk about, maybe? We're family now, you can tell me anything!"

Leo patted Grifen's wrist companionably.

"You know I speak my mind... even if it offends people. And I am sorry for that."

He sighed and folded his hands again. It probably wasn't proper for him to be touching another woman at all now that he was married.

"When you think about it, you already have been groomed for a leadership position your whole life, haven't you? A tribe rather than an empire, true, but the only difference is the scale really."

"Speaking of, have you given more thought to what you're going to do about... that... when you go home?"

[Xanmyral]

"I'm not sure, honestly. Just can't seem to stay asleep, keep waking up in the night in a sweat. I thought I was sick at first but turns out that isn't the case. Grifen has been helping though, she's been making me a tea that is suppose to help me sleep lately." After a few moments, there seems to be something that clicks in his head and he hastily continues.

"Oh, but I promise it won't affect tomorrow. I'll be at the top of my game. Its the end, after all. ...I think? Feels strange thinking that. Feels so long ago that I got mixed in with all this."

Sheila waved a hand. "Oh no, don't be silly, I'm sure you'll be spectacular as always tomorrow. I'm just trying to, you know, be more... Uh, you know. More like family. Since we are now. Just trying to make sure you'll be yourself."

[Sirus]

: "Women don't lead clans, preacher. Not most of them, anyway. And even if they did, I wouldn't be ruling my own. I'd be married to someone from a different clan, sorta a political thing. Hard to go to war with a clan when yer own child is one of them and might get killed by accident."

: "But anyway, I ain't worryin' about that now. Even if I never actually have anythin' to do with whatever new government comes up, I'm thinkin' of stayin' with Fezz if he's okay with it. I'll go home to tell Ma and Pa of course, but that's it. Never wanted to sit down with the matchmaker anyway."

Alec, having spent a good amount of time out on the darkened streets, slipping quietly through alleyways with his mind simmering, eventually made a complete circle and found his way back at the inn. Slipping past Grifen and Leo and upstairs, he, silently as he could, made his way past Ciera's door and down to his room. Reaching out to the doorhandle, he slowly cracked the door open, only to seize on realizing someone was occupying it.
: "!"
Almost reflexively, he pulled the rest of his body out of sight, only peeking inside to see what Ciera was doing there.

"I'm glad you've made up your mind, and not least because it'll make you my sister-by-law."

"I think the two of you will be happy, and it will be good to have you as part of the family."

Leo then realized he might have read too much into 'staying with Fezz'.

"Er, that is. I mean. Assuming that that's what you want."

At the door opening, Ciera looked up. No one was coming in, so she called out softly,

"Al... Alec, is that you? Can... can we talk? Please? I... I have to say something."

[Sirus]

Grifen frowned while sipping her drink. Funnily enough, she didn't quite feel like drowning her sadness anymore.

: "...reckon that's up to him, ain't it? I wouldn't mind, but maybe he don't wanna settle down. Has he talked to ya about it?" Ciera's frequent fretting had started to give the nomad her own doubts about Fezz's feelings.

Alec remained still for a few moments, keeping the door at a slight crack as he stayed out of sight.

...Minutes later, he sighed and cracked the door open more to at least show his head, now completely straightfaced.
: "Ciera... I lost my composure. I'm sorry, it won't happen again."

"No, don't, please..."

She sighed and stared at the bed, drawing a random design on the blanket.

"I... those things I said... I thought that you were just being nice to me because of... how easily sad I get and how down I am on myself. What you said this afternoon... I thought that you were trying to just push me off, not give me a straight answer because you knew I wouldn't like it. But... but then this evening, you... you showed me how you really felt."

She looked up at him.

"I know I said that you didn't show your emotions as much as others but... I took that to mean you didn't care about me. Not that you just... keep things buried. And I'm sorry. I just... I don't know if I'll ever understand why someone like you wants to be someone with me. But... but I think I love you. And if you... if you want to be with me? Then I'd have to be crazy to push you away like I've been doing. So I... I want to try and stop doing that. I really do."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"No, he hasn't. I wish we had had more opportunities to talk, but there's always something demanding my attention or his. But we do share a certain level of emotion. I believe he is quite fond of you, even if he hasn't said it."
