Julius touched his hand to his forehead with some embarrassment at Alec's quip. He's have to work on that.

"I thank you Alec. It's a honor to have you at my side. I'll make sure to uphold my oath." he said, offering a friendly handshake.

"After all, what kind of hero would I be if I didn't?"

Ciera had sat back down with her knees tucked up to her chest when the arguing had stopped. When Alec swore himself to Julius, she wrapped her arms around her knees and buried her head. She had been right. He cared most about this. She'd have to be ok with this.

Alec took his hands off his tome and snorted slightly on Julius' last remark.
: "Now you're getting it."
Gathering the tome and flute in one hand, the bard stood straight and clasped Julius' hand in a firm shake, before letting go and turning to Leo.
: "And, Mop-top. The only reason I thought to run from that fight is because of who the Empire sent against us. Eul. By killing him, we kicked the rebellion from 'mild nuisance' to 'full blown problem' in their eyes. And mind, I did end up staying. Because I chose then to believe in you all over Matilda. I still want to. If I were an Agent, why would I want to participate in his death, and why would I want to call attention to a rebellion that, from their angle, likely should have been put down quietly?"

Leo rubbed his eyes.

"If you're wanting to continue this, then remember that I theorized you were playing every side for your own gain. Think about it that way, rather than exclusively focusing on the hypothetical suggestion that you're an empire agent. My argument is that you've stood with us so far because you stand to profit, and that if someone were to offer you a good deal to sell us out, then I'm not sure that you wouldn't take it."

"All that being said, there's really nothing you can say to change my mind; just hold to that oath you just gave and if you're still with us when the dust settles, I'll formally apologize for being wrong about you. That's all."

Miguel walked out on the meeting. He was never all that fond of politics anyways. The boys would figure themselves out soon enough and then they'd be ready for tomorrow. The girls would inevitably follow suit. But Miguel wasn't so certain that he'd be ready. The castle of Troy. He had seen it once or twice in the visitations of his youth. The House of Empress Helra, Troy I, and the other leaders who had come and gone. Now Julius wished to join that line. Goodness, what a thought. He shook his head.

The old man stopped in the middle of the street momentarily. Perhaps it would do well to take a look at the old palace. If he was going to be willfully committing regicide, perhaps it would do him well to at least take a gander at the place that he was going to be attacking.

Yes. Hands folded behind his back, he head towards the Castle of Troy. One little peek. Then it was time for him to go to sleep.

: "Then I plan to prove you wrong."
: "If I'm going to live by my word, I don't want you weaseling out of yours, Sulk-top."
Stepping back and looking at the others, his gaze locked on Ciera from across the room. Seeing her curled up, his expression started to turn worried.

Sheila rolled her eyes at Leo and Alec. "Well,  I guess this is all good enough for me. I just want this settled so I can go where I want without being attacked by everyone and their dog. And maybe get some of the system fixed. "

Grifen quietly left the conference room. She wanted to go for a walk, but it was too dark outside. She instead settled at a table downstairs with a tankard of strong drink and a mind full of worry.

"I risked my life against Eul for Matilda because I had given my word to her father. I don't think my honor is in doubt here."

Leo followed Grifen out and downstairs, taking the seat across from her and folding his hands on the table.

"...Hey. Want to talk about it?"

He had offered to be her mentor - it seemed like so long ago now - and he would be remiss if he at least didn't provide an ear for her troubles.

Ciera slowly lifted her head and scanned the room. It seemed like people were starting to split off to their different destinations. With a quiet sigh, she slipped out of the room and headed for her own bed, figuring that getting sleep would be the best option right now. After all, they had a castle to assault in the morning.

Watching Ciera slip out the room as he leaned against the opposite wall, Alec looked down to the floor and scratched his head. A few more moments, staring at the floor, he sighed and left the room himself. Walking further down the inn's hallway to the room he thought was Ciera's, he paused, but eventually knocked on the door.

Alec stared at the door for a second before opening and taking a step inside and pushing the door until it was just a creak before closed, then looked at Ciera.
: "...I'm sorry about the show back there. I know it's hard to come to grips with everything that's going on. I can't really keep up, myself." His expression remained worried, "How are you feeling? I want to know."

Ciera gave a shrug.

"It's ok. I mean, you all calmed down and it was important that those things were discussed. It will be good for Julius to have someone like you helping him. The cool head and controlled emotions. Good balance."

She mostly ignored his question, not really knowing how to answer it anyways.

As people filtered out, Sheila approached one of the few left. "Fezz, you gonna be okay tomorrow?"
