That would work - and then you could all try to replicate each other's drawings through looking at the reference photo and remembering. :P

I expect you to all try and add your own personal flourish and style to this initial attempt!
Remember that a major purpose of this exercise will be about noticing what people intentionally left out and why, and how they emulated things that wouldn't have looked good drawn (and figuring out how to do the same for your initial attempt).



Once we've posted our own attempts to draw this, we can then choose which other person we want to attempt to emulate.

I think that I've just been shown the value of a class that I took about ten years ago.  x3

I thought you meant for it to be a photo-realistic rendering, though.  Either way, it will take many of the same skills.

Well judging by the lighting the focus is on a oval on the bottom right corner.

Since it's what I have time for right now, I'm going with this fishy here for tonight. If anyone cares to join me, that's cool, or not. I'll update with whatever I end up with when I deem it satisfactory.

EDIT: After proving to myself that I have no idea how shading works, I'm just going to post the line draft and be done with it.

Bleegggghhhh. This is pretty meh, but it's a part of my process and prudent to share:



I wanted to familiarize myself with the scene and how it felt before I did it up proper, so I did this quick exploratory sketch. It's just scribbles and outlines, with no real construction drawing or guide lines or reduction or anything going on, hence the proportions and perspective and all that being borked up. Scan seems to have eaten some of the softer lines too. I'll be revisiting the scene digitally, with proper construction drawing techniques when I can sit down and interpret this. But for now, here you go.

Have I mentioned that I am not a traditional media person? :I
