~Prologue Pt. 2~

"If elected leader of the Red Team, I vow not to lead us to our bloody deaths!"
"what Ashley no that is a terrible team name"
"I nominate myself for leader!" Squeaked the small being beneath everyone's feet, hopping up and down to catch their attention. When they all turned to look at her, she said it again, a bit louder. Because some times they didn't hear!

"Also, I figure a good team name is 'The Seekers'. I mean, that's what we do, right? Seeking! I'm not too small to be leader, anyway.

My name is Mowsalyn by the way. Nice to meet all of you! I mean, this is my first time working with my own team, so I hope everything works out.

...I nominate myself for leader!"

The Register Toad squinted at Ash and his unusually acute angle then perked up again when he heard Mowsalyn also declare her leadership capabilities.

"You know what? How about I just put you guys down as 'undecided.' Leader's only important in who gets and distributes the rewards, and team name is mostly for rankings." The tiny capped man pointed to a large grey wall opposite his counter. A comically-large plaque on the top read "Wall of Heroes." Under those words, a pyramid of hung portraits spread out almost to the floor. At the top, the world's most recognizable heroes: Mario and Luigi. The next two portraits under those were of Team Kong, lead by the famous ape himself, and Teamometry, a two-man Magikoopa group. "Here. We've got a few D-rank jobs unclaimed right now. That's where you are. D-rankers. Be proud of it! You can only take one job at a time, so let me know when if you reach any kind of consensus."

[5] As the team looked through the job openings, they noticed a crowd gathering near the Battle Stall at one end of the building.

Mow looked at the jobs, rubbing her tiny chin.

"I say we take the Cake. I mean the mission with the cake. Dangerous Dinner With Dubious Duchess, I mean. Not that the others ones don't look very interesting, but it'd be nice if we all got to know each other before we got into any trouble,  right? And if we're lucky it will be easy coins without much danger. Seeing as I'm broke."

Action: Vote for DDWDD mission. And myself as Team Leader!

((OOC: Let's all vote for a mission and a team leader in our actions to get it out of the way. I'll go with majority rules in any case.))

((If there's a pattern of no one being able to decide on anything then I could always make it a poll, but then it's not just you who can vote :P I doubt this'll come up very often, though))

Roger slouches against the wall beside Ash.
"Rewards...? That sounds... like something... I'd... like to handle...
But I... don't think... I should be... trusted with that..."

Looking at Ash, it continues.
"You... look trust... worthy... enough. I think... you should be... leader."

When Mow declares her preference for the security detail, motivated by cake, Roger straightens up and declares "I... don't like... being indoors... much... I'm going... outside... to soak... up some... sun. There's... plenty... of sun... on Delfino... it would be... better... than being... cooped up... in a castle... or a cave..."

((Edit: That's a vote for TiP quest, and Ash for Leader))

Mimic Guy swapped in his happy mask, immediately becoming significantly more chipper. "Cake sounds nice and all, but I'm with Roger. The Delfino deal sounds fun. Besides, lifetime free passage to the Isle Delfino? That's a nice bonus, y'know!"

Voting for TiP and obstaining from a leader vote!

"Ooh, cake!"
"uh I don't know if that one is such a good idea Ashley what with the volatile political situation and the high difficulty rating and us being new at this and all"

Ash's face disappears within her trenchcoat.

"But it pays the most, and it requires the least walking around! What, you want to do the one that'll give us a badge? I don't want to spend a day scrounging through scrap, it sounds dangerous and an awful lot like work."
"Well then why don't we do the Trouble in Paradise one like the pokey wants since it seems pretty easy and the pay is okay"

Another moment of muffled deliberation emerges from the slumped human figure before Ash's face emerges from the trenchcoat. The bounty hunter carefully adjusts her hat and sunglasses.

"Alright, so, after thinking it over, I think we should do Trouble in Paradise for our first mission together. It plays well with our skillset, and probably won't have more than one fight, so it will be good practice. And hey, if the pokey wants me to be leader, I won't argue! I'm pretty good at sharing if I say so myself."

((That looks like a lock for mission and I doubt Errol wants to deadlock us by voting for me...))

Mows did the math, and her ears drooped.

"Oh, erm, uh...hooray for the Democratic process..." She said, wondering if they chose him because he was taller, or if she was just too short.

"Alright, I'll call up your client for the quest. When you're done in the Forge, you'll find a ferry at the docks right west. Just show this slip to the captain, and he'll take you where you need to go." The Register Toad handed the slip to Ash with a wink. It was a bit odd how much bureaucracy was involved in being a hero, but the nameless team didn't need to think about it much. With that, they turned around and took their first long, collective look at the building's innards.

The Hero Forge was much like an indoor market. A dim place with few windows, two large doorways on either side teased the place with slivers of daylight. Every surface was tiled a depressing grey. Every corner was filled with stalls selling adventurer's goods. The team didn't have much money, but they rummaged through their pockets to see if they had enough to buy anything before they left.

[6] Mimic Guy found a whole SIX HUNDRED COINS in his pockets! He was totally holding out on everyone.
[4] Roger counted four-hundred sparklies left over from his travels. No one asked where he kept them.
[6] Ash still had the six-hundred from that man's trenchcoat!
[1] Mowsalyn wasn't kidding about being broke. She only managed to scrape together one-hundred coins from searching through her desert garb.
[2] Sir Bigglesworth pulled off his cap and shook out 200 coins. Damn kids always tryna steal his retirement moneys.

Some of the more prominent peddlers had signs on the front of their shacks:

Buddy-bom's Explosives
Cheap Cheep's Deals
Warioware: Mega Magic!
Goom-bess' Gypsy Fortunes
King Koop's Overstock Armory

The group couldn't see everything at once. Hero Forge was always crowded with lots of adventurers, shoppers and people just looking for information. The crowd gathering on one end dispersed and went back to their normal trading.

Mowsalyn dumped out the rest of her pockets, revealing only strings, buttons, sand, bones, paper and a single tiny wiggler-which turned red and retreated back into her pocket. She frowned, her nose and ears drooping.

Oh well! Time to make her money go as far as it could...

Sir Bigglesworth was not daunted. In fact, 'daunted' was not part of his dictionary. Just like 'cowardice', 'shame' or 'too old'.

March straight into the Armory and examine yon wares with great interest.
