Have you ever pined for the tabletop equivalent of Nethack? A procedurally generated world of mystery, magic, and monsters? Did you ever want to know how the dice hate you? Did you ever want to see what early D&D was like without the relentless DM screw yous?
Well, now's your chance. As the name implies, I will be Randomly Generating Everything in an AD&D campaign. I am using the core rules, and Unearthed Arcana, and a few dragon magazine bits I can bring up when they are relevant. You will need the 1st edition PHB, and a copy of Unearthed Arcana, no questions asked. Non-weapon proficencies will be fudged: You write down, say, Chirugery as a NWP, and i'll dig up some rules for sewing people back together.
Poison is allowed, provided you have contacts in the assassin's guild (Bards, thieves, Assassins have them automatically). Alignment is a sort of team flag: It has no bearing on what people actually do- Both a CE warlord and a LG paladin may raze a village, but the Paladin will give a speech on the horrors of just war. Alignment language is your respective team's secret codes and handshakes.
I think this will be an IRC game, undecided on time, but probably sunday.
Monk as written sucks, if you want to play a monk, talk to me, I have a fix.
Psionics as written suck. If you want to use the power of the mind, talk to me- there's a class for that.
You can just take Bard as a class if you can meet the pre-reqs.
It's worth noting that there are /5/ character generation methods. When you decide if you're intrested, tell me which one you would like to use, and i'll roll it up for you
Method 1: Roll 4d6, drop lowest, arrange as desired.
Method 2: roll 3d6 12 times, arrange six as desired
Method 3: roll 3d6 down the line for each stat, but roll each stat six times and take the best
Method 4: roll 3d6 down the line 12 times, pick the result of your choice.
Method 5: For humans only, select your class. Secret formulae are rolled, and you recieve at least, the minimum required to get into that class.
Non-humans can multiclass as normal, and do not have level limits.
Any questions?
