Not really, character is considered when rolling for dice. The roll is going to have to be pretty darn amazing to derail a character and from what I know, it's only happened to Victoria before her character was properly defined and thus amorphous to an extent. Isaac's insanity being revealed and Selina's confidence are both accepted forms of character development that were prompted by rolls. It doesn't so much as distort a character as much as it randomly determines character development.

Well it's a personal preference anyway. Since it's possible early on for a roll to derail a character. Plus it might do things that are inconvenient to the player so it isn't superior to other methods, it's simply something that a few players in this RP decided to use to varying degrees.

More like "rolling to see if the character acts in the one-dimensional way or if s/he breaks out of his/her mold:.
Example: Selina wants to kiss Victoria. However, Selina is shy. If she rolls at least a 12 on her not-shyness roll, she kisses Victoria. If she rolls less than a 6-7, she blushes and moves away. Throw in an overshot for 20 and you've got the general idea.
