"I suppose that'd be the best of both worlds. I'm sure some people would want to come down here, like my father...but, most people are happy there, right? Alot happier than they would be down here.

...not that it matters, I guess. We're stuck here for now, probably for a long time. I'm not into daydreams-if these guys and a whole library and from what I gather a whole bunch of other people have been looking for a way for so long...well, our chances are pretty low. I don't suspect we'll ever see home again."

She pauses. Breathes in, and out.

"And as much as it hurts, we're going to have to learn to live here. Me, I'll never stop looking for a way back-I know my father won't stop looking until he finds me...but...we've got a whole new world right here in front of us."

Derry leans over and hugs Beth.

Well if you want help finding a way back, you can count on me. I've got a couple of scores to settle back home, so I do need to get back. I probably just won't stay up there.

Bethany accepts his hug, and then holds his hand.

"I know I can count on you, Derry."

She move over next to him, and lays her head on his shoulder, then-rapidly nodding off. She's exhausted, and sleep would be welcome. She knows she'll be safe if Derry is around.

Derry's face goes bright red as Beth holds onto his hand, and then somehow goes even redder when she falls asleep on him.
<Should... should I say something? Nah, she's asleep... She's so pretty when she sleeps...>
Derry catches himself staring at Beth and looks up and around. He lowers himself onto the floor, along with Beth so that she'll be more comfortable.
