Nodding at his tanker Mark puts on his helmet before heading over to another flame unit chewing on some bread. Remembering a name Kyle Mark asks "Hey Kyle want to stick together and take more of these buggers to hell."
(just wondering are the flame units safe to walk in fire.)
You're not that close to one another. The units aren't all concentrated in one place, you're all in different parts of the line.

You're definitely not safe to walk in fire. You all have light leather armour covering your entire bodies to protect you from being burned while handling your own flamer but that won't protect you from open flames. Helms are optional, but they're just for show really.

The blare of horns silence what little chatter remained as the Dark Lord's forces begin their advance. Their march can be felt as millions of feet stomp in time, and the din grows steadily as their pace quickens. The beasts howl as they make their charge, and the Collected forces stand firm as they crash into the line. The battle has begun.

Hold the line. Survive for as long as you can, but fall back to the hold if you find yourself overwhelmed. The more turns you survive, the longer the others will have to prepare traps and fortifications to aid in the defence of the second fallback point.

Turn 1 - The line is Solid - Engineers will have Palisades in Three Turns -

Xantolos
The line is holding where you are. The human swordsmen meet the scrabbling goblins as they try to force their way through, but their wall of shields is thus far impenetrable.

killerhellhound
The line ahead of you scatters as a wave of goblins crashes into it, but they quickly reform and start pushing them back. The human swordsmen battle desperately to keep a small party of orc berserkers from breaking through one part of the line, but several men find themselves cut down and a gap is beginning to form.

GreatWyrmGold
The line holds as a gaggle of goblins washes over it. The elven blademasters make short work of them, and this part of the line momentarily finds itself without enemies.

kj1225
The heavy orc infantry making up the frontline somehow manage to control themselves, and when the first wave of goblins charges they hold their ground rather than running to meet them. The orcs' prowess is so great that not a single goblin even manages to raise his sword before falling, but the stream of enemies does not cease, and you sense that they won't be able to keep this up much longer.

Flying Dice
The dwarven hammers rise and fall as they crush goblin after screeching goblin. The line holds, but the token goblin still manages to leap over the tiny warriors.

Wexdarn shoots a goblin that gets too close to you.

Keep an eye on the dark elves. Shoot any enemies that get past the line without being nearly killed in the process.

Stand ground. Light up any clusters of enemies that are within range and well away from friendly forces.

You wait, and the line continues to hold.

killerhellhound
You step forward, activating your rune and hefting your flamethrower. A traitor orc forces his way past the line and charges towards you. Halls meets his twin swords with his pike, and they move off two one side as their fight leads them away from you.

You move over to the gap where the orc berserkers are preventing the line from reforming, and try to get as close as possible before loosing your flames. Several orc warriors notice your approach and charge forward to stop you, but they're too far to reach you in time. A wave of fire erupts from your flamer, burning the orc berserkers black and washing over to scorch the ranks behind them as well. The human swordsmen seize this opportunity to reform the line, and several of them nod their thanks as they move to do so.

You don't have much time to congratulate yourself however, as another hole begins forming in another part of the line. Halls runs up to your side, covered in orc and human blood, though he doesn't appear to have been wounded.

Burst will be ready again on Turn 4.

GreatWyrmGold
You can see the traitor elves attacking a separate part of the line. You hear a thump, and a jet of flame spouts into the air as that section's flamer detonates, killing dozens of warriors on either side. You could go and see if they need help, but you'd be abandoning the warriors that may need assistance here.

The orcs continue to hold, and you continue to stand by, much to Gazo's chagrin. Our men are trained to move out of the way in order to fire past them. Why don't we get in there?!

Flying Dice
You torch a pair of sneaky goblins who made it behind the line with a single burst, though it seems like a waste of flame. Wexdarn gives you a look before turning to smash another goblin with the butt of his rifle, snapping his head round and sending him spinning to the ground.
