1. Huh. I always assumed the player was female, too. It's sorta vague though. I'm pretty sure it's intentionally vague.

Even the name "Frisk" is pretty gender-neutral. What's really weird is that... around the time (name)/Chara was revealed to be someone different from Frisk, I started thinking of Chara as male, even though they look identical to Frisk. What's even weirder is that, despite me thinking Frisk was a girl and Chara a boy, I still call them both "they".

I also thought Monster Kid was a girl, but apparently not?

2. Also did lots of music for Homestuck. By lots of music I mean about half the music I have on my hard drive is either made by him or remixes of his work.

In fact, I kept trying to go through Dogsong in my head, but it ended up segueing into another song. I tried to remember the other song before remembering, oh, another Toby Fox song.

Another song made me nostalgic despite having never heard it before. Turns out, it's because it's very similar in structure to Penumbra Phantasm, an oft-remixed Toby Fox song. I mashed up the melody I put into some MIDI program with the song here, that guy who puts together all the Homestuck music references literally thought they were the same song when there was a muffled sample in a trailer so I guess I'm not off base

3. just a guy who makes music for Homestuck and earthbound romhacks and... the best RPG released on steam apparently???

I actually liked his music but had some WEIRD subconscious dislike of the guy somewhere in my mind... not sure where that came from, Undertale utterly ruined it for me, I cannot dislike anyone who could write these characters

5. I died 11 times, all of which were against bosses, and all of which were due to the game messing with me unexpectedly.

If I were to guess, it was 4-5 against Undyne, 3-4 against Mettaton EX and 3 against ASGORE. I know for a fact that it's exactly 3 against ASGORE, since the game files said that. My Undyne deaths were twice due to her actually being hard and two-three times more because I didn't know you had to flee instead of spare. My Mettaton EX deaths were due to not knowing you had to shoot the disco ball, mostly. My ASGORE deaths were because I didn't know you had to try killing him.

7. Yeah, it's great how everything seems to follow the rules... except specifically when they break.

The Sans fight is probably my favorite example, heh. You check him and it says "weakest enemy in the game, can only do one hit point", but he utterly ignores your mercy invincibility. Hardest fight in the game by far. I can't muster up the courage to get to that point, heh, but people have played the game, did pretty well then died against Sans dozens of times. Expected genocide playtime is 3-4 hours to get to Sans and 3-4 hours to beat him.

8. I did some things differently from most people, so I'm constantly having to correct them on stuff because a lot of people who give instructions give them as if it were them playing, which leads to a different playthrough than others. It's beautiful.

I haven't seen that in the game. Is that just a teaser?

Holy shit I died to Undyne the Undying three times.

I have died to a boss after knowing all their tricks and how to beat them in the pacifist run exactly 0 times before that.

I only survived after stocking up on as many healing items as possible.

This is gonna be good.

Nine times he's killed me so far. Only one of those was getting dunked, because I had never seen the dialogue for when you refuse after.

EDIT: 13 times, officially got more game overs to him than I did before the genocide run

I got up to 32 times against Asgore. It was at that point that I looked up how to pacifist-run beat him. The end-of-Ruins stuff (and saves being DETERMINATION based) messed up my expectations for winning the fight.

I really expected him to suddenly die when low on health, with no do-over possible, ruining the pacifist run.

For the curious, the dialog seems to stop changing after 10 deaths. It was something along the lines of: "You tell Asgore that he has killed you too many times to count. He shakes his head piteously."

I can only think: "My name is PLAYER. You have killed me repeatedly. Prepare to run out of mana."

I dunno, I just can't force myself to like the game with zero people posting angry rants about how much this game sucks. I just, you know, feel that a game that has got only positive reviews can't actually be good? It's like an OCD or something.

Welp, just finished a true pacifist run, credits and all, and I'm never touching that save ever again to preserve everyone's hapiness :v

I'll just watch no mercy runs on youtube I guess.

Also, there are a few interesting things hidden in the game that you can get by editing certain game's files.

There's a certain bit of code in the game's data that lists a "fun" value, following by a two digit number. If you capitalize the fun so it becomes "Fun" and alter the two digit number, you may get some interesting creepy stuff to show up on your game, such as extra NPCs and strange rooms showing up out of nowhere.

Additionaly, during a pacifist run, if you go up to the corridor where you meet sans before the throne room, save at the the corridor, talk to him, then immediately quit and talk to him again, doing this multiple times, he'll eventualy become aware of your ability to "time travel" and give you a key to a room in the back of his house. This will lead to a few interesting meta-plot bits that shed a bit of light on sans uncanny ability to be pretty much anywhere and also his awareness of your ability to save.

You can tell you got it right when at a certain point of the game, you dont get that "wrong number song" call to your cellphone, implying you got a Fun value that will cause stuff to happen.
