Garula was pretty close there!  Took over 30 potions and 4 elixirs and I had no more meds left, but the team managed to stab the dumb elephant to death with shiny knives.  Now got Berserker.  Guess I might run into some probs, but for now Butz is leading an entourage of cat suited maniacs and they're stomping everything.

Yeah didn't have to level any more, those mythril knives conquered garula for me.  Got berserker as well for water job.  Just about to take on the fireship.  Wish I could rod break, but I think I'll be ok.  May want to kill my zerker so the tornado form can waste all its mp.

There comes a time when you must take off the soft, furry slippers of a boy and put on the shoes of a man.
Unless of course they don't fit properly and your feet blister up like bubble wrap.
Oh ho ho, but don't try to return the shoes, because they won't take them back once you've worn them.
Especially if that fat pig Tony is at the desk.

And my second run is done as well. I will take on Omega (and Shinryuu, but nobody cares about him) this time.

Wow, fast runs.  How long did it take you?

This is my first time playing through, I have a minor trivial early plot question...

That was nice, made it out of Karnak with 13 seconds to spare.  Got the gauche, ribbon, mantle, and esuna.  And a couple elixers.

Got summoner for third job, just in time for Byblos.  Thank god.  Also pretty happy that I'll be able to use golem.(And subsequently if I berserk Shinryu I can golem cheese him)

I started a second run yesterday, this time doing a random run. My final jobs lineup is Knight, Black Mage, Ninja and Ranger. That's going to be fun in so many ways.

Final Party for my normal run is Blue Mage/Summoner/Beastmaster/Samurai.

So my good sirs, I come here to ask you if this party has Shinryu/Omega potential.

Shinryu, yes. Omega, probably, though harder. Worst case for Shinryu is that you can berserk em and spam golem to block its attacks.

Youtube vid - Thieves vs Garula

Backrow!  Will crush that poor elephant now...
Hello. I mostly wanted to say that I'm glad that video has been useful to someone. From what I remember, I didn't spend much time leveling up in that run; I beat the game at lower than level 20.

I made that video because I noticed a lot of people had trouble against that boss as Thieves. Other than getting Mythril Knives, I don't think I went much out of the way to get to that battle, so it should show how the battle can be done without much grinding. Needs a lot of potions though. I think that's what I spent most of my money on.

I'm always interested in seeing how people play; it's neat to learn of all of the little tricks people discover when playing, so I've been reading up on a bunch of Four Job Fiesta threads every year.

That run in the video I ended up getting Thief, Time Mage, Beast Master, and Samurai. It was probably my most enjoyable run, mostly because I did my best in trying to find solutions to problems that didn't involve leveling up.

Anyways, thank you for having this thread every year; they're enjoyable reads. I have other videos that may also be of use to people, maybe.

Cool, thanks for making that video!  My latest TPK is Liquidflame, but I am inspired by your post and will try to work this one out.

My other FJF-related videos are here if anybody's interested: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdiDj4lhWmdTbXxPqRowfcNCSiOIgA5Qi

The strategies used in the other ones may be useful to someone, perhaps.

Edit: My mistake, the clear was at levels 20, 16, 20, 20, so average less than 20, but not actually less than 20.

Rise Thread, a new year has arrived, and with it, a new challenge mode.

Pre-Registration has started so you can start playing for charity. The official start will be June 22 this year.

Niiiiiice. I guess I'll register for the chaos mode, even though this is all the "clarification" we've had so far:

Quote from: Blog
THERE HAVE BEEN MANY QUESTIONS ASKING FOR A CLARIFICATION ON THE NEW CHAOS RUN IN THIS YEAR’S FEISTA.

ALLOW ME TO MAKE IT EVEN MORE CLEAR THAN “YOU WILL BE ASSIGNED JOBS”.

YOU WILL BE ASSIGNED JOBS FROM FINAL FANTASY 5.

THANK YOU AND HAVE A GOOD DAY.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

So it appears that we have the best theory on what Chaos mode is at the moment, based on current evidence. In chaos mode, you will be assigned a job from the entire job list per crystal, regardless of whether you can actually use the job or not at that crystal. I won't update the OP until I get confirmation that it works this way, but I just thought to put that out for you all.
