Should Scaleplate/Chitinplate/Shellplate reduced to "Scale/Chitin/Shell", and "Rigid X-plate" to "X-plate". It would shorten names a lot.

Thoughts can't be modded.

You might notice that you mentioned code that does checks. That's not a thing in DF modding unless you're hacking the game; even so, thoughts can't be added with DFHack either. They're pretty damn hardcoded.

A quick question - you have inorganic material BLANK_LIBRARY which is used for different paper implements.

So if you make some writing thing it is usually TOOL_PAPYRUS:INORGANIC:BLANK_LIBRARY or PAPER, or VELLUM or even CLOTH. Then it is used as a reagent with TOOL:NO_SUBTYPE:INORGANIC:BLANK_LIBRARY (or for some strane reason TOOL:NONE:INORGANIC:BLANK_LIBRARY in RESEARCH_LABORATORY_WIZARDSCHOOL_STEP_ONE).
But you also have TOOL:ITEM_TOOL_GLUE:INORGANIC:BLANK_LIBRARY which can be used in those reactions but strikes me as odd. I mean i wouldn't use glue INSTEAD of paper:)
It is obviously unintended from the MAKE_TNT reaction where you have acomment
[REAGENT:C:1:TOOL:NO_SUBTYPE:INORGANIC:BLANK_LIBRARY] => paper, papyrus or vellum
Shows you didn't intend it as glue.
Just my first glimpse at the raws.

Also in cheating reactions you left you have ballista parts from that material.... do they work? Funny idea to make a book from chain or ballista:)

What about a military labor id that is used solely for workshop dfhack reactions to train up military?

Everything is already complex enought, a copper coin comes from copper, that is logic, without reading the manual i have no clue what is a sovereign? shilling?
Even if i rememver, then i have to rememver who is who, whas the sovereign the gold or the silver one..? arg!

I thought thats common knowledge. They are all three real life coins from medieval times. And an easy mnemonic help: Sovereign = Ruler/King = Gold.

The cost of building libraries is OK, but it's a bit fiddly to make the right books and to have them all available at once. With 10 books, one or more is often in a bin in a wheelbarrow somewhere. Would probably be better to have 1 reaction to make a set of books (one item), rather than 10 reactions to make 10 items (but same overall cost).

Libraries give very little benefit though. For most skills, it's better to just set the dwarf to work rather than waste time micromanaging libraries. Even for skills where it would be useful (military skills), it's really too much micromanagement for too little reward. Perhaps 1 reaction to get all skills in the group up to lvl5, instead of 1 reaction per skill to lvl3? It could take a while though, doesn't have to be quick&free.

Good idea. Tying things to a labor instead of using workshop profiles would be much, much easier to manage since you can use Dwarf Therapist. Having a labor to toggle for the guildhall, garrison and libraries would be better, even if they had to share the same labor.

Meph, is there any way we could get some high-value stone crafts? I find that after a couple of years my legendary crafter's products start having a serious FPS impact. I would love to be able for him to get generating the same value over time without making lots of individual  items.

Is it possible to mod in new kinds of artifacts? 'Cause I was thinking, praying to the god of blood seems oddly tame, even accounting for the ritual suicides rampant among new migrants and suspected criminals. I think it'd be neat to have Apostles occasionally get a strange mood and sacrifice themselves at an altar in exchange for a random artifact-quality object.

It doesn't have to be a craft per se, just a high value object made by the stonecrafter.

A solution may be a craft made out of individual crafts, lets say 10 regular crafts, and costing 10 times more than a regular craft.

That makes actually perfect sense.

Reaction: "Pack crafts for trading" => Takes 10 (or 25) crafts of one type, makes a "Box of Crafts(10)". This way you can have 10 boxes of 10 crafts in 1 bin. Less items, better FPS, less hauling, faster trading.

I researched a bunch of stuff, one at a time.  Then I queued up a few at once and got a whole mess of duplicates.

Give a dwarf a fish, you feed him for a season.
Give a dwarf a Fishpond, couple of buckets, build a Fishery, and enable Fishfarming labor; you feed him for a lifetime. (And get someone to clean and prep the fish)
