Let's not forget the whole assassin thing in and of itself. Bronn holds up two folks at crossbow-point and threatens to kill them. They offer him Highgarden, a castle which they patently have no right to, and he agrees to this payment. He then decides he can just shuffle out of the room and collect this castle after the war is fought, and no one will tell him to get on his horse. Assuming they even convince Daenerys to for some reason give him this hugely important castle in the first place, Bronn is taking a huge risk with very little chance of pay-off at the end... a very un-Bronn-like approach. The fellow is a street-savvy, suspicious fighter, not a dunce.

Getting rid of the dragon doesn't necessarily mean a total win. I mean, yeah, it's a big deal... But not everything. (also I think theoretically he was "out of range" of the ballistas...)

Wanna win? Squish the tightly-clustered Dany+all her advisors, who definitely are in range of the ballistas. What, you think Cersei cares about the rules of war and discourse? That she'd care about the future ramifications of making it clear that you don't act honorably? Fuck that.

what a letdown of an episode, what a fucking letdown

Characters doing/saying things they shouldn't do/say.

Somehow only half of the living died at winterfell. Yeah, the wights totaly didn't overrun and dogpiled everything in the last episode. Unless ep3 was shot at night to hide how bad the wights got spanked.

Fucking ballistas...
Battleships? Ballistas.
Dragons? Ballistas.
Night king? Ballistas.
But he can bring the dead back...BALLISTAS. Yeet that motherfucker back to the Wall.

No he wasn't. It's just that they made the ballistas so powerfull that any remaining conflict is meaningless.

So many talks about how dangerous dragons are... the whole backstory about how the targaryans first conquered the seven kingdoms because they had dragons, the scene in last season showing the horror of a dothraki charge only to be topped by the even greater horror of one full grown dragon decimating an army and even in just the previous episode with the dragons fighting the undead one. All meaningless because some guy strapped three bows together.

They took one dragon down with just three shots while it was flying and while they were out of his breath attack's range. And even if it's debateable if the dragon really died they still showed the same ballistas sinking whole battleships with impunity. Each shot blasting the ships in pieces like high explosive artillery shells.

So why was the night king dangerous again? What was the point in the previous season about "needing every man and woman in the war against the night king"? Put a couple of these on your wall and shoot at him.

As it is, my suspension of disbelief is gone. I just can't take the "we will fight against cersei's armies" seriously anymore.

Season 1 Tyrion would have just offered a fucking castle to whoever killed cersei right there at the negotiotion scene instead of talking about burned babies. And a royal pardon to everyone else.
