I've been thinking for a while that there's a certain "dark reflection" between Tylwin Lannister and Robb Stark. The tale behind the whole Reynes incident was that people thought that the former would be successful in their rebellion, because Tylwin's father was a poor ruler and Tylwin himself an unproven commander, so he kind of took everyone by surprise by his crushing victory. Kind of like Robb did several decades later. Just some food for thought.

I've been thinking for a while that there's a certain "dark reflection" between Tylwin Lannister and Robb Stark. The tale behind the whole Reynes incident was that people thought that the former would be successful in their rebellion, because Tylwin's father was a poor ruler and Tylwin himself an unproven commander, so he kind of took everyone by surprise by his crushing victory. Kind of like Robb did several decades later. Just some food for thought.

Keep in mind Robb wasn't crushing anyone, it's still questionable if he could have taken casterly rock with only the riverlands' support and even without alienating the freys/karstarks/boltons. It's possible taking their seat of power could have forced the crown to surrender, but then again the starks lost winterfelll and they didn't immediately collapse. What would've been interesting is if Robb managed to overpower the second army being amassed at casterly rock whilst Stannis took King's landing, leaving Tywin with his forces in the reach and riverlands trapped between Robb and Stannis.
The plot would only thicken from there,  as Stannis and Robb would then wage war, with another 3 way war in the North between ironborn on the west coast, baratheon on the east and stark to the south. Dorne and the reach would then declare rebellion, putting Myrcella on the throne, with only the vale having the forces to stop them.

Poor Tyrion, he's having his Richard III moment. Deformed military geniuses who led their families to victory, only to be thrown under the bus for murdering boys they likely had no blood on their hands for.

I do not think Rob would ever have fought Stannis.  He was the King in the North.  Stannis could have taken the throne, Rob would have gone back to the northlands, revenge having been had.

So, why the devil didn't Yara kill Ramsay when she had the chance?  She gave him time to open the damned kennels!  Also, I note that axes and mattocks are poor weapons compared to the stabityness of a sword.

The dude charges a group of armoured soldiers with swords and shields, shirtless and with only a couple of knives, and somehow doesn't die?! What the fuck.
That's ruined Ramsay Snow (and all associated plotlines) for me. I hate that kind of nonsense.

If so, did Ramsey have his pants on in that fight? He might as well have gone into battle wielding his pork sword

Not Robb's choice to make. Robb declared himself King of the North, Stannis King of all seven Kingdoms. Considering how moat cailin was still held by ironborn, he also wouldn't have been able to return north.
Yara is a good leader, just very stupid.

The first point seems unlikely, but then perhaps I just haven't read enough of the books or something.
The second bit, though, doesn't hold any water- he was holding a couple of knives and somehow took down a whole bunch of guys with swords and shields. Not since that big showdown between Jorah, Grey Worm and that other dude have we seen a fight scene even approaching such a level of silliness- and in that case they were well armed and armoured, and were holding off enemies rather than dancing around in their midst.

I don't really see a problem with the fight as a whole, since the ironborn were at a disaadvantage the moment theon started spazzing out.

It's not that hard to believe Ramsay could fight like that considering how well others with equally violent childhoods turned out. My only irk is that Yara is an established champion axe thrower, has an axe in her hand and the enemy is half naked before her. Didn't even try throwing it.
