What is on-topic, exactly?

And yes, I agree, that's not really the reason the retention rate is so low. Still, might as well give them a chance.

I'm still sad about Quad leaving. I'm sure she was upset about the fact nobody responded to her when she got back and was shocked that she hadn't been replaced after ten days of absence, and the game was simply allowed to end.

I feel at least partially responsible for that. I should have sent her a PM right away. I guess I was just too busy, and I figured someone else would do it. She could have become a great player with time. She definitely had the potential and the drive. We just let her slip through the cracks...

First of all, welcome to Bay12!

We are a friendly bunch, but I'd like to point this part of the OP

So, what kind of experience do you have playing mafia?

@Ford
I've played two forum games on mafiascum. the first didnt end so well. and the second I reported to basic training before I could finish it. the majority of my experience is from reading games.

I've rped plenty mostly guild forums. besides I want to plaaaay :)

While I'm reluctant to let you reserve one, since I've never seen you play, if you stick around in the interim, I'll probably let you take a spot when I finally open the game proper.

@Lordnincompoop
Sounds good to me. Remember you do always reserve the right to say no.

But why? He's just going to get his ass lynched on D1 for saying something stupid. Well, that or ask for replacement. People have tried letting newbies in the games of this level again and again and this has never worked. Questions of politeness aside, you know I'm right.

Oh hey, basic training? No need to be gentle, then.

Dariush: I know you're right. I've seen more than enough examples to be able to firmly side with you on this. That said, I think Griff and Ranger could handle it, and they've not been here long. Granted, you could tell right from the get-go that they were going to be good players.

Gankster78: Any chance you could link us to the games? And what was your username on Mafiascum? It wasn't the same as your current one.

I agree with Dariush. Its *very rare* that people can immediately be successful on the Bay12 mafia board, even with mafia experience elsewhere.

Counterpoint: I haven't been particularly horrible in my first game.

@Dariush
It would seem to me that you are predisposed to not playing with people of which you can not judge their actions against previous play. Was that too defensive?

More to the point: Your opinion need not be expressed. Nincompoop reserves the right to say no sans your manipulation.

I've been here for a while and I am of the opinion that I still suck.

@Ford

It has been well over two years since the last time I posted in mafiascum. Thus, I am unwilling to dig up that game.

If memory serves me, my name was Hanzo5.

I've never been with Griffon in a game and Ranger disappointed me by overfluffing himself into TGT and requesting replacement halfway through.

Yep, it doesn't need to. But I expressed it anyway, since I expect LNCP to take note of it in his judgement.

The only thing you suck at (well, at least out here. IRL you could entirely be failure incarnate) is horribly murdering people every night with an axe when given the ability to do so.

To be fair, I waited until the last day to use that axe just to be safe. I was a nice, careful person.

Oh, and Jim's lover. That was fun.

My point exactly.
