Summer: Turn 5
She Who Walks in Nightmares is pleased.

Finally, the Drone Chamber has been produced, and longer-term projects can be undertaken, for the good of the Hive. She currently could not move, and so she would not be able to directly oversee their tasks, but indirect orders would suffice for now.

The Hive moves, those within it swarming, following their new orders.

Pop: 6

Research:
Secondary Mutation (Ability to induce particular mutations in Drones to specialize them to certain tasks... basically Tools.)

Orders:
Unorganized Hunters reassigned to the Drone Chamber
Hunters once again focus on gathering Hosts.

The heat of the summer descends on the forest, though the Xchtanph don't seem to worry about it. The surrounding of the hive is scrawling with the, gather resources and food.
The hunters are mainly succesfull, capturing 3 pop units worth of good, suitable specimens. The hosts have already  been given to the vectors, who will hatch soon.

Deep within the towering structure, She who walks in Nightmares, though immobile, is experimenting. By letting loose several kinds of chemicals, she manages to affect the unborn larvae, specializing them for later roles.

Research:
-Primitive Weaponry - shields

Clout:
-Nothing

Building production:
-0 ic, 5 food

Construction
-Granary (use 1 pop)

Other:
-Scout northern lands with 1 pop.

The priest Kings reside over the land, which flourishes under the baking sun. A granary is constructed from rough stones, keeping the food from spoiling. An expedition is also mandated, in order to explore the North. The expedition reaches farther than you ever went before, and finds that the savannah turns to plains, and then to an enormous forest. This is not their most important discovery however. They also found a large object, clad in leather. Inside, strange etchings and pictures are etched onto thin pages.

Population grow continues.

Research

Spend 3 research on animal attraction.

Other

Send 1 population back to the warriors hut.

As the population growth slows, the social situation slowly stabilizes. The production of weaponry is resumed, and soon everybody's weaponry is back in top shape.

No new animals have arrived.

The sails were deemed a resounding success, although more work is necessary. A sail for the Big Boat begins to be constructed. A second attempt at sailing is planned. This time with smaller boats escorting it as it will sail around the Leviathan. Then, if all seems safe, it will attempt to spot the other mighty beasts on the horizon. Meanwhile, the new generations show great curiosity for the myth and the story of the tribes and the Leviathans in general. As such, the building of a small stone circle, at the feet of the mountainous vents of Ychtnarley, begins.

Population: 7

Research:
-Storytelling (invest 2 clout)

Building production:
-Fishing docks (+5 food)
-Crafting square (+1.5 IC)
-Caverns of the Melded Maidens (+1 Clout)
-Harvesting camp (+2 food, +0.5 IC)

Construction:
-Big Boat improvement: Sail. (1 pop)
-Counting Circle (+Clout OR +Research (chose each turn)) (2 pop)
The construction of the boat is a succes, and the story of how the boat sailed forth, speeding over the waves, is one that will be recounted for many generations. The Boat's crew has spotted several leviathans, though it hasn't come close to either. Around at least 2 they recognized the ships of our people, but another remained curiously empty.

The tales are recounted around the newly constructed counting circle, where a new social phenomena started.

Population grows

Continue research.
Use clout to order 1 unit to become a Philosquid.
Have Third Tentacle touch the pillar again.
Research is continued, and succesfull. Some squids found out that they can use the gasses, which are sometimes emitted from the smokers surrounding the Eye, to recieve visions from the eye itself. They're not very clear, but a good leader could interpret them to support his leadership.

A new philosquid is assigned, but it's an universally known fact that philosphers, when in each others presence, will discuss stuff. This has lowered their efficiency (Only 5 rp instead of 6)

The Third Tentacle touches the pilar. It shows him an image of battle, of the glorious victory our squids just achieved.
Population grows, some food rots.

Leader:
Spend some clout to inspire new explorers and finish the explorer huts

Research.
leather armor

The explorers are recruited, and the huts are finished.

Work on leather armor is hard, but starts.

The experiements had gone well. Very well.

Now, the Brood could specialize themselves, and become more adept at their tasks, though it would be at a cost to other tasks which might be equally important. Because of this, the number of such modifications would have to be controlled... some would be needed, but too many risks overspecializing the Brood to a crippling degree.

So they would focus the first such mutation on something that would aid in acquiring new Drones, so that the problems of this specialization could be overcome.

For that, they would need Hunters.

Swift, agile predators, chosen from those Vectors who had claimed the hunters of the forest and plain. Their bodies would be changed, made swifter, lither, more flexible, more capable of capturing or killing creatures in order to bring them back to the Hive for food or reproduction.

Pop: 9

Research:
Hunter Mutation (Secondary Mutation Invention. Modification of Drones to specialize them for pursuit and capture of prey.)

Orders:
Reassign 1 free pop to the Drone Chamber to fill it
Drones to produce and spread Traps with all available IP.

Hunters shift focus to gathering Food, with all free Drones assigned to work with them to do so.

A turn will be here later when I figure out tech advancement

Third Tentacle quickly realized the potential of these gasses, and becomes obsessed over them. He is the only squid allowed near, and studies their visions through sleep cycles. He notices that food is piling up quickly, and orders the others to sacrifice it to The Eye.

Clout:
No one is allowed near the gas vents.
Sacrifice half of the food piles to The Eye.

Research:
Save up RP.

Pop:
No change.
Third-tentacle studies the gas vents.

The construction of the Great Boat was finished, and a resounding success. Sings were composed to celebrate it, and stories will go down the generations. The other Leviathans are still too far for a trip, but in a couple years it should be possible to reach them. [did I say that Leviathans move about 1-3 meters a day?] Seeing that food is beginning to pile up (especially with the big boat helping with the fishing), some mitoshondr advised to build a place to keep it, preserved from anything that could spoil it. Stories of food shortages are counted in the stone circle, motivating the mitoshondr to work.

Research: Food preservation
Build: MOAR BOATS
Set Counting circle on research.
