Dawn Of civilizations [Forumgame] [OOC] [6/6]
« on: April 16, 2013, 11:39:12 am »

IC thread :)

In the time before times, monsters wandered the world. Forgotten horrors, deadly denizens of the primordial plains. In those days, even the Sun was young, and the mountains newly born. A virgin nighsky, enlightened only by the eldest of stars, envelops the dark world. Yet not all is as dark as might seem to be, in caves and shelters animals gather. Together, these protosentient beings manage to survive, and thrive. So ended the Age before time, and started the Age of sentience.

I'll add the sheet once I've had a look at the example.

Lets reserve the post.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I'd like to get access to bioengeering later in game and make a hybrids from flesh and metal controlled evolution of my race in few different directions. I would breed(later modify genes or guide it) of my workers, soldiers and priests making them stronger, more agile or intelligent depending on need. Similar to Tau Kroot from 40k but not as extreme. If the games happens over years, that's hardly possible, but if turn is longer time then I could do that some day, unless you don't plan to let us research so high tech ever.

Reserved. Give me half an hour, and I'll post. It took a bit long than that.

You can steal mine soon. Out of curiosity, does the village have to be on land?

If your species can swim, it can be in the water though. That will however have it's consequences (hard to make fire without setting fire to the boat. Or to the underwater grasses.).

Btw, example up. Though it isn't really a good one, so feel free to ignore and be creative.

Do you decide the effects of the social traits or do we decide aslong as it's not to strong?

You decide, but I get to creative with unknown effects. For example, that oral tradition might result in mythifying of events. The Council of Elders might reject certain new discoveries, or have trouble moving with the group/ surviving.

So yeah, I decided to play the bug people for this one.

This should be... Fun.

Also one of the Social abilities has a negative effect built in. :p They don't rout. They also don't retreat. And stuff.

Is that even possible? No army is unbreakable and routing is what happens when you break.
Hell Romans were famed as the most disciplined army in the world and even they could break if you put them under enough pressure.

Fixed the fluff to better explain it.

it's less discipline and more just that individuals don't recognize themselves as anything more than they are: Just another cog in the machine, not worth more than any other, and nothing next to the good of the hive and She Who Walks in Nightmares.

Hiveminded insects. Ie, pure warmachines. They simply can't fanthom the idea routing. They don't fear death, and might not even be considered sentient.

Seriously, there are soldier ants who get used as living pincers to construct nests.
