Collapsing the tunnel would just keep our problem from escalating then we can deal with whoever is left inside.
True, but it would also deprive us of resources. We may be partially incorporeal, but meatbags are not.

Proposed Course of ActionThe mine will be...
pacified, starting with the men trying to escape. Efforts will be made to keep the bodies relatively intact for use in creating horrifying abominations for use in the conquest of the village. Overnight, we will infiltrate the villagers' dreams and play on their worst nightmares while also giving them the occasional flash of the events in the mineshaft. Just before dawn when they are suitably terrified, we will send forth our minions to eliminate the priest and militia before appearing ourselves and taking control.
Author's NotesDo note that having worshipers is a very helpful and positive thing, as they not only provide continuous energy income but are generally more efficient at labor than the undead. Killing everything will provide us with a larger one-time stat boost and provide the bodies for use, but there are drawbacks. Once we reach a certain point, we will bleed even our base Strength and Mind without worshipers until it is below that level. This means that going on a massive, homicidal rampage can be profitable in the short term but extremely risky in the long run, and has led to many a daemon found and eliminated by the Inquisition in the past, not to mention their limited power if they do not constantly engage in killing.
Even as a daemon, having a strategy and plan and picking specific targets is preferable in the long run. One of the reasons the forces of Chaos have not conquered the galaxy yet is because many do not understand the importance of this.
In other news, this update will be pushed back to tomorrow due to unavoidable RL things, but will be over at least a 16 hour timescale and hopefully a 24 hour timescale.
