Description: Rheumy and bloodshot, his faded brown eyes are comically magnified and distorted out of proportion from behind thick spectacles sat upon a prominent beak of a nose, a physionomy which quite gives Vecchio den Pantalone the appearance of a bewildered old owl questioning reality. Atop his head, an ocean of shiny pate separates two wispy continents of white hair around his ears that even the Magellan of all fleas could not traverse, yet in the southern latitudes of his countenance, that expanse of skin which northerly had been so smooth and placid becomes a torrential storm of leathery creases and saggy folds, out of which grey whiskers bristle wildly.

Background: Vecchio knew and served five Kings of Nocte in his long lifetime before Logan, and forgot at least that many, as well. In his younger days, he had cut a dashing figure at court, a scholar and a rake combined, had married well after an appropriate number of scandals, and had four sons and three daughters; in his middle age, he had been both High Councillor this and Royal Advisor that, indispensible to the Crown for a knack of getting things done, his fingertips were always on the pulse of the Kingdom, when not around the throats of his ingrateful brood of self-indulgent wastrel children; but now in his old age, he mostly putters around his estates with mathematical tracts, alchemical compounds, cadavers, and philosophers' stones as his frustrated children await his overdue demise. And that thought finally elicits a wheezing laugh from his creased visage, as he opens his latest acquisition: a rare folio of Vertolio's "On the Secrets and Whereabouts of the Elixir of Immortality." They would get nothing! Nothing!
