Glloyd has been added as a full admin for the server.

But that doesn't matter when both servers are empty. :P

Vactor, you should really get around to setting up the database so we can read porn in the illicit wing. That said, the illicit wing should probably have a 'puter for printing books and a bookcase.

And as to the earlier convo about IC in OOC, yes there are IC methods that are preferable to OOC announcement of lolrandom deaths, like turning on suit sensors, but suit sensors themselves are lolrandom, as far as I can tell. If you don't have a habit of checking to make sure they're on every round, which takes a while to develop, then you're liable to get killed with them in an unknown (to you) state. And yes, there are times when using OOC to announce "och, teh carp" when the radio is out is bad. No IC in OOC is ideal. But there are rare times when I think it should be acceptable, though certainly never preferred. It was the absolutism in your post I objected to.

I am of the opinion it should be almost totally absolute. That's how the rules are written on the Wiki.  I think it totally changes the atmosphere of the game when you've got a bunch of commentary about the round going on in OOC.  MAH IMMERSION and all that.

Maybe if its an extended or sandbox round, without any admin event going on, it's ok to use OOC to get yourself cloned or whatever.  Just because you know you're not going to be screwing over any antags, and those rounds tend to go for a while.

Furthermore, in antag rounds OOC-ing for cloning can really screw you over in the long run: if you happen to be the antag's target, he may employ additional measures to ensure you don't get cloned (decapitation, de-braining followed by cooking, spacing...).

The main thing we need to do is to make a habit of checking Crew Monitor Computers every couple of minutes, so if you die by accident in, say, Library, your corpse won't just be ignored (HAPPENED TO ME - I got slimed to death in Chapel, hauled off to Library and... promptly forgotten). If someone forgets to turn sensors to max, he's either an antag or gets on the wrong end of natural selection.

Hell, in sandbox I use the OOC as the IC.

Is just being in illicit properly illegal? I mean sure, cuff them all and strip search them, but you can't really brig people for being in there. At least not for very long.
I wasn't arrested for that shooting the CMO when he want to check it for drugs did that.

When I'm AI i tend to check the monitor quite often, but when half the crew dont have their sensors on its hard to discern if someone has gotten killed and stripped.
Second problem is to get someone to actually go retrieve the corpse.

This, so much this. If you have your suit sensors not on full and you die, then the chances of recovering your corpse are slim to none (unless it was in a frequent and well-travelled place, in which case we'd probably have bigger problems to deal with).

It is possible to tell if someone was killed and stripped, since they won't appear on the computer and won't respond when they kill them. However that doesn't actually help you find their corpse, so... eh.

Find me some decent documentation of how to set it up.  I've poked around a bit with it, but I haven't figured it out yet.

Huh. Did your server's IP change Vactor? Or did I miss something and you're updating it? Or is it just plain down?

It needs to be set up so that the CMO get's a PDA message whenever someone is injured or something. Also suit sensors should be on by default.

My guess is its down, The machine was running this morning, but I didn't take a close look at it.  I'll check it when I get home (9 hours from now)

If the server goes down when it is nighttime in the US, please PM me so I get an email.  I generally check my email before I leave for work.

Didn't want to start a new topic about this because I'm not capable of doing this but would it be possible to make a source engine mod/ garry's mod gamemode that was essentially space station 13? I mean the source engine gives you a ton of resources its just making everything work right? Anyways if there's enough interest I may start a more detailed topic.  :)
