Since I have a dentist appointment coming up (I really fucked up in the dental department), I'm trying to see if I can get a dental metaphor in at every change I can get for this turn.
So far it's working! Have this inspirational conversation from Jules and Matthew to tide you over.
Quote
JULES: "What I am saying is that what might be a paradise of magic to one person is an infected hellscape to another. And what I'm saying is that what you encountered under the complex is what the dentist's hand looks like to the microbes living off your teeth."
MATTHEW: "Uh, thanks for that, but can you tell me that less... poetically?"
JULES: "Brush your teeth more often."

I think he might be giving us a subtle message, guys. Something about teeth.

Hmm, that is interesting. Though I now have this strange urge to floss.

Alright, just need to do Caesar's turn and we're about done here.
Also, I think I'm going to nix the idea about adding mechanics to this game. Instead, I'm going to do something that would probably fit Godhood a bit better: choices.
In these 'midgame' updates, you're probably going to encounter situations where a lot of stuff your character has built up is going to be challenged. You might also find yourself in situations where you have to choose between advantages. None of this stuff is going to interrupt the usual act structure which seemed to be the primary worry.
Also, next game I am going to do more planning and notage. Because looking through my previous posts for scraps of information is like chopping through jungle with a machete to find a candy bar you dropped four years ago.

Hey, only reason I was worried about the rolling was that most of my dice rolling characters are either dead, inactive, or probably soon to be dead so there was no shield to prevent my luck from getting to Merlin. But honestly whatever you wanna do is fine by me; going Bioware instead of Gygax is perfectly alright with me.

Merlin totally picked the Control ending, by the way.

Well, there's that information post I compiled some time ago, but the notes unfortunately do quite nicely reflect my descent into madness as I went along. So...

You know that stuff about looking into abysses?
It also applies to information-hunting in long-running roleplays.

Yeah, I can't even do any information gathering OOC in this because I slip into Merlin's persona whenever I consider it for too long.

I feel I should probably read this thing at some point, as it's always sounded terribly involving, sort of like a sinister roleplaying cult.

In fact, I think I'll do just that. At some point.

Beware, it's very long.

The OOC thread seems to be very long. The game itself seems to be around around 165 posts, each about 0.25-1 chapters of your average novel.

I like that, it's less disjointed than the average forum game.

Shame I didn't come up with a better character concept than somebody who doesn't know they're a god back when I applied, in retrospect.

Wow, can you guys believe it? Two posts in the same month. And I managed to exceed the character limit, again. Hopefully this is less... less.
Hey, Harry Baldman. Yeah, I really like the format of Godhood games. I imagine a lot less people would try reading through this if every post in the OOC thread was posted in the game thread. That would also drive me absolutely up the wall. Just so you know, word on the street is that I'm considering making another Godhood-style game after this one. If you want to know about what... It might just be about the age of what happens after fire is done.
Well, I'm not going to lie, this was a hard update. I'm trying to get over my procrastination problem and this was a definite show that not everything I think is impossible to do... is. 40,000 characters. Jesus. I think I started writing on March 19th, so... 40,000 characters in two or three days.

Excuse me while I pat myself on the back.
*pat* *pat*
Edit: Oh, and about choices. Choices are not static. Third options are both allowed and will be rewarded with interesting outcomes. This is specifically to avoid 'eat baby or burn down orphanage' style choices that don't lead anywhere interesting. Hope this is a better system that suits Godhood better.
