You're in.

Ah.

Post updated!

RAM:
You can have first chuckduck offspring, and first pick on next domestic animal: I'm hoping that there will be better meat and work animals out there.  I will take the land though if you're still willing to part with it (this way I don't have to explore for it).

I am not certain, but you may need the domestication research in order to convert a plot of land into an animal habitat. I am not certain either if offspring can be moved onto an empty plot, it is all a little confusing, but you may as well keep the plot and take my two plots until there is a new offspring, at which time I assume that you will try to implant the offspring into an empty plot and give me the plot that the offspring came from. Also, I am somewhat worried that there may be event cards that can remove food from plots. Given that the chuckducks consume food as quickly as it is recovered, it would be nice if the plot was full, as they cannot recover food over time unless I get that annoying research item...

Primitive Work Tools cost 7 to make.

Also, I remembered that Primitive Work Tools don't actually unlock anything, so that's suddenly a lot easier. :P

Wow, can actually double prospect for once!  Aren't extra AP great?

Once I get an extra field or two, I wouldn't mind some Chuckducks.

GG:  Question on domestication:  What's the difference between domesticated and undomesticated animals?

When it comes to reproduction of, say, Chuckducks, is there a way to time it so you butcher one before it eats an additional resource out of your field?  Also, I'm not sure I understand the "4+x" time- is the +x specific on the animal, and Chuckducks are +0?

Does anyone plan to research Crop Rotation?

Butcher and Pasture both happen at end of turn (just like farming), and all are mutually exclusive. So if you butcher a chuckduck, it will not eat any food from the field this turn.

Okay, that makes sense.

What about domestication?  I don't see its actual benefit unless I'm missing something.

Only domesticated animals can be pastured.

And to answer an earlier question, the children of domesticated animals are also domesticated.

?I am guessing that we will find out the exact behaviour of a chuckduck pasture once one exists, I am guessing that it is probably 1 food for 5 time, which would make it inferior to irrigated fields, hrmm, who knows, chuckducks will presumably be the basic model with some rare and woderful beasties out the with low discovery and domestication rates.

Griffionday, even with both of us a hunting trip would only have a 15% chance of finding anything, and even then there is no guarantee of being able to domesticate the critter, and I am in a hurry to finish my research, But I would be willing to go out on a hunting trip for the lulz if you want to host one next turn.

If I am right and it's 4+0, then that would be reduced to 3 for laborers.  If there's any sort of tech/tool that lowers that time further, it'll become hard to beat.

However, you'd need a bunch of them to subsist entirely on meat.  They'd make a great supplemental food source, though.

Hunting looks to be something that requires a high initial investment, which means there may be some amazing critters out there to find.  Do note GG implied there may be other resources besides food that can be obtained from them.
