My wife's medic, she was injured too and helped about 40-50 other sufferers. None of them were officially registered as injured.

The airburst that happened is a rather rare event. During a normal reentry the damage wouldn't have been so big.

I just crashed a moon-sized iron asteroid, and got this under Global Damages:

100 percent of the Earth is melted

The final crater diameter was 31900 miles, which I think is bigger than the Earth actually is.

I don't think that you can use it to a certain extent. There are substantially different effects once you jack it up a certain level.

Also, I'm having way too much fun blowing eeything up with the impact calculator. I learned that liing in NYC while North Carolina is wiped out by a ice-version of chixuculub would be fairly okay, except for the heat and airblast, which will light everything on fire and collapse everything about 38 minutes after, respectively.
