Some hawkish US Democrats have already called the MH17 disaster "an act of war" and put the blame on Russia.  This won't end well.

Considering those are Hawks i.e. nobody the leadership listens to that's just something for Russian media outlets to fantasize about. Nothing serious.

Apparently 100 of the passengers on the flight over Ukraine were Dutch AIDS researchers going to a conference in Malaysia, including a number of world leading experts. This little error of judgement on the part of these Russian-backed idiots may have set AIDS research back by years and years.

Really, I'm extremely interested to know how Ukrainian Security Service managed to encode this interception one day before the actual crash.

And as I said, anyone can replicate this - all steps are listed.

Well, yeah, but the point is, despite all the outraged rhetoric, no US government would start an actual war with Russia over this, even if Putin would announce that he personally fired the rocket.
There might be more sanctions coming, though that is easier for the US to demand than for the Europeans, but that is it.

Reactions in Europe seem a bit more subdued so far, there are calls for sanctions against Russia, but also calls for more investigation to find those responsible.

The investigation has some problems of course, the rebels don't want a ceasefire and apparently OSCE investigators have trouble getting to the crash site, they are negotiating about a "humanitarian corridor". There are unverified rumors that the black box is on the way to Moscow, Russia denies that. Also there are rumours about the wreckage being looted, which if true is disgusting.

One also has to wonder why civilian airlines were still using this route (Malaysian Airlines is not the only one), when there is a warzone and military planes have been shot down, that's pretty careless.

Lav, For starters that video is not from SSU. It is a version modified by another Youtube user, using Russian version of the video as a basis.One can see that this is not a SSU youtube channel
Also, youtube videos aren't encoded in Mpeg-4, I suspect that when you download using savefrom they are reencoded

Actually, would you care to explain something to me?  Why would a video that gets reencoded when it is uploaded to youtube, then reencoded when it's downloaded from youtube have a final encoding time before either of those transfers take place?

Why wouldn't you just download the videos from youtube directly anyway?  There are apps for that.
