I question how much good he really did as one, and even so, he's long since expended any sympathy he could possibly garner. I'm happy we'll soon be rid of him, he brought all of this upon himself.

There's a line between being happy at his demise (which I am too) and dancing on his grave.

I'm going to do the smart thing here and disengage. This isn't a hill I paticularly care to die on.

I'm not dancing on his grave. He's not dead yet.

As I always say on such matters - I'm happy that he won't be able to hurt people anymore, or at least any harm he does will be limited only to his legacy. I'm not happy that he had to die for that to happen.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Tempted to protest his funeral.
If I had the money, I would fly to USA and join the protest with big sign saying "God Hates WBC!" ir somesuch. Just so these people would know what it feels like.

But we are forming the line already.

Because of course they have never suffered disdain or insults themselves. It's not like the massive weight of the whole world's hatred could have any part in their continuing isolation.

Pretty sure at least some of them revel in it. Feeds the ol' persecution complex.

I know, and even if rest of the world didn't judge and shun but politely ignore them, they would still find a way to isolate themselves. The whole identity of small "cults" like that is formed around the "few against many" premise.

Fred Phelps is dying, and was apparently excommunicated from the Westboro Baptist Church. I was tempted to post this in the Happy Thread but I imagine that would get a bad reaction, so I'll leave it here.
How did he get excommunicated from his own church!?

Also, protesters at his funeral are pretty much guaranteed.

The story I heard is that the WBC considers death to be a sign of God's wrath against a person.

So my kids just lost Medicaid coverage.  The notification letter reads a little strange...

First paragraph begins roughly 'Due to adjustments in income evaluation, your children are no longer eligible for medicaid.'

Second paragraph begins roughly 'The Affordable Care Act is expanding access to Medicaid.'

 ::)

Wouldn't be too much of a problem if my kid wasn't diabetic.  He's going to be costly.

Do you live in a state that refused the Medicaid expansion?
