The Republic of Costa Rica is an independent nation. I assume you are talking about the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. But yes, if you are born in a US territory you have citizenship. Notably, the US territories are the only places in the universe where American citizens are not allowed to vote in federal elections. So long as you are not inside one, you can send an absentee ballot from wherever you are.

Basically, if I were Puerto Rican I'd get that whole statehood thing over with already just to get a say. I'd imagine that makes for a pretty convincing argument there too.

I think you basically just answered your own question  - it's an incentive to follow procedure and achieve statehood.

Probably yes. The most Scottish Puerto Rican there ever was. Joking aside, a large estate not too far from me used to be the location for the Mexican embassy in the UK.

Those 2-axis political compasses have separate axes for "economic" and "social" freedoms, although they vary in the labeling based on the ideology of the person constructing the graph. Left/Right is economic freedom (Free Enterprise on the right, Socialism and/or Anarchism on the left). The Authoritarian / Libertarian axis is personal / social issues: e.g. abortion, religion, drug use, etc.

Being anti-business puts you on the "left" of the horizontal axis, and being liberal in personal choice makes you a "libertarian". There are both left-libertarians (e.g Anarcho-Syndicalism and decentralized socialism.) vs right-libertarians (e.g. Anarcho-capitalists). The base terminology "Libertarian" has been appropriated in modern times to only refer to right-libertarians, hence the confusion. Additionally, left-libertarians generally have other terms terms to describe themselves, such as anarchist.

In Europe, a liberal a a fiscal conservative/social liberal mix in American parlance. In most of the world, liberalism actually refer to what is know as economic conservatism in the US.
