Colony Name: Freekennels
Economy: Cotton, Tobacco, Rare Dog Breeds.
Name: Timothy Mayor II

Reason for colonization: Timothy Mayor, and a few like-minded aristocrats, founded Freekennels to escape the harsh control of The Kennel Club in the day to day operation of his rare and experimental dog breeding business... but thats only the part of the story told to the public. In reality Ol'Tim also wanted to exploit the rich climate and supply of marginalized minorities to cheaply produce valuable plant resources to sell back to England at a huge profit. After a slave revolt killed his father and predecessor, Timothy Mayor the Second took the reigns and established a militia for putting down slave revolts and defending the land against outside intrusion. Although more than solid on their home turf this militia is unlikely to do well if deployed offensively.

Reason for Immigration: Many people thought they could exploit the 'mad dog man' and gain cheap land to grow cotton and tobacco as they saw fit, only to arrive in the colony to find laws and taxes governing the production and sale of non-edible plant products already in place. Most of the new migrants had sold most of their belongings back home to afford the trip and land, and had no choice but to settle anyway and play the game based on Timothy's (admitted reasonable) rules.

Later migrants were merchants and artisans who traveled to the colonial capitol of Mayorsville, which had become a booming stop along the triangle trade route.

Why is everyone trying to make sure they'll have uber-militaries?
Because Bay12Games. Or to rise up in revolution. One or the other (probably the former though).
Well, I'm just going to be not-violent. The odd one out, as always.
GreatWyrmGold, you are not odd. If you are, then I am as well. For I do not have any plans to commit myself or my citizens to needless bloodshed.
Then let us join in trade, peace, and prosperity. Sun Wine?

I'll have my woodcutters clear some land so a bar can be built. Then we can partake in trade, peace, prosperity and sun wine.
Sorry, all booze is to be donated to the Holy Empire of Proelia for the use in her most venerable machines of war.
Side note- Attention all military personnel. Drinking the Molotov Cocktails and using the gas tank of the vehicles as a winebox is punishable by demotion to Private or dishonorable discharge.
WHERE ARE YOU TAKING MY MACHINE OIL!

Comrades! Brothers! Allies! Let us stop this fighting! We have yet to even begin and we already turn against one another? The savages will trample us, the Spanish will slaughter us, and the French will paint us like their women! We must work together!

Colony Name: Vangardia
Economy: Mainly Industrial and Consumer goods, although there is a strong military goods industry,
Name: Maestro Aleksandre Von Kahn, Former Earl of Greater Yorkshire, now High Governor of the English Foreign Industrial Company (FIC). Also known as 'The Master', 'The Maestro' and 'That Swarmy Git'.

Back story: The Maestro, a handsome, highly intelligent engineer and scientist worked his way up through the ranks, forging his family into an influential force for mental and intellectual advancement. His inventions and ideas five years earlier set the foundations or England's vast (and extremely profitable) trade empire which now funds England's golden age and Industrial and scientific revolution. Seeing his role in his homelands transformation into the worlds only superpower was complete, he set his sights on the rapidly growing colonisation attempts of his home country in the new world and unknown continents.

Reason for Colonisation: Vast abundance of metals of many types, two great rivers to help fuel growth and trade and fertile land for agriculture, with enough land left over for adequate expansion.

Reason for Immigration: Many people thought they could exploit the Maestro. No-one exploits the Maestro. They arrived in the colony to find laws and taxes governing the production and sale of all things profitable. Most of the new migrants had sold most of their belongings back home to afford the trip and land, and had no choice but to settle anyway and play the game based on The Maestro's rules. Many failed and ended up filling the primary and secondary industrial roles. At least the factories, mills, farms and plantations are full of willing workers......

Later migrants of a better sort graced these golden shores. Engineers, scientists, architects and other desirable people arrived and fueled the fledgling colonies growth into THE source of military, industrial and consumer goods in the new world alongside and rapidly growing trade network.

Soldiers Battle Cry: "FOR THE COMPANY! FOR THE EMPIRE!"
Workers Battle Cry: "OH BLOODY HELL NOT AGAIN!"
Women's Battle Cry: "OH GOD YES!" (The Maestro has a way with the ladies...) Not that type of game, i suppose?

On a OOC note, are there any Crown Lands? AKA, land controlled by England?

And are the German states allied with the English (historically they were)?

Gamerlord! SPEHSS MAHREENS!

the East India Trading Companies troops did actually shout 'FOR THE COMPANY, FOR THE EMPIRE' when fighting.

Don't know how often they did though, as it is bordering on reason, somewhat.

Anyway, i'm using it because i'm creating the Americas version of the East India Company but based around industry and technology.

On a OOC note, are there any Crown Lands? AKA, land controlled by England?
And are the German states allied with the English (historically they were)?

1. Yes, that is you.  You all are under my control, as I can fire you at my whim.  I let you have your fancy titles but in all reality you are my colonies  :D
2. Maybe later, but for now, this glorious empire only uses it's own troops; I thought the Hessian/other German mercenaries came later.  I did a search and this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hessians#History came up.  I believe that I would have to explain game mechanics more for it to make sense.

Anyways back to the game.  I am in the middle of choosing who goes where in three categories, North, South, or Middle.  Once I have done that, someone (maybe me) can make a map (or not).  We also need two more people to join to make it thirteen.

Mechanics of the day.  I'm making these up as I go, and the first one is about playing the game.  You each have three actions per turn.  Right now your actions will go unopposed by the people, but I have a mechanic for that later, one that simulates people like Benjamin Franklin.  Later when we start, you will post your actions and I will post the turn and my actions.  Guess what! I'm the king!  Well the king has some rules to follow.  Right now I'll roll a six sided die and parliament will say yea or nay based on whether I get majority vote.  If I get a 1, I get rebellion.  In 1715 there was a Jacobin Revolt.  More on that if it happens.
I also get three actions per turn.  I can (ask parliament to) tax, which adds wealth, I can invade, which is not defined yet, or I can raise a standing army.  In war I can do this automatically, but they all spawn in the home land.  It takes three actions (1 year) to get to the colonies and more to get to the far East.

Also to make things simple, wealth, military power, and any other statistic that is put in are out of six.  When I put in wealth, I will say 3/6 for HM's wealth.
One unit of military technology or leadership power, has an effect on warfare.

Oh, yea, seeing as there are quite a few mining colonies, quite a few of you are gonna have to change that when we start, as you live in the ore less South.  Also, no islands, there were not any major island colonies in the new world.

Here goes nothing...

Colony Name: Meridia
Economy: Cotton, Tobacco, wheat/general farming and foodstuffs, timber.
Name: Nicolas de Haviland
Reason for colonization: Meridia was colonized to contain population growth in the homeland as well as to use its rich fertile soil to supply the metropolis with colonial goods and supplies. Meridian timber is also a useful industrial material and provides resource for both building and industry.
