Thirteen Colonies Game
« on: January 30, 2013, 08:20:38 pm »

You are one of the thirteen (max unless a new colony is made or lost) delegates of the (fictional) colonies.  I am your king who has decided to grant you governing power.  If you displease me I will fire (from inactivity or otherwise) you (in the case of rebellion you can continue to wage war, though you will be hunted down) and rule your colony directly until a suitable replacement is found (yes that means new players can join).  The year is 1701 (turns take one year).  France to the North, Spain to the South, and Indians to the West (if you want a war, you must ask me, who might say no, I'll probably try to be as unreasonable as possible).  The people also have say and will have your heads if you try to rule like Sir Edmund Andros (represented by the RNG).

To Join:
Colony Name:duh
Economy:What you produce; will decide whether North, South, or Middle.
Name: governor's  name
Reason for colonization:Reason for colonization
In the case of independence, you get to make a new government represented by you (We will get to the 1800's even if I kill myself doing so)!
!Update! quickly add why your people came to the colonies!
I'm taking names today, and I'm going to start tomorrow.  Maybe even with a MS Paint Map  ;D

Colony Name: Lindiria
Economy: Meat and shipping
Name: Sir Alexei Robret

Reason for Colonization: The vast plains and supply of water.

Reason for Immigration: Lindiria is actually not a hot spot for immigration to the new world. It is actually a sort of penal colony for The Crown to send its debtors and various undesirables. Alexei Robret was actually a pirate-turned-knight himself after aiding The Crown in attaining naval domination in the New World. There is actually a waiting list existing for those prisoners who wish to start a new life in Lindiria. Regular immigrants are hesitant to come to Lindiria due to the prejudice many of the existing residents have against regular sorts of people.

(May as well.)

Colony Name: Woodhedge
Economy: Timber
Name: Aaron Parker
Reason for colonization: The large stretches of forest.

Description: Woodhedge is mainly covered by forests that make up almost the entirety of their industry. Or, was mainly covered by forests. Large scale woodcutting projects have taken their toll on the once beautiful forests. Their towns are made out of the wood that they cut and imported stone for more important structures.

Colony Name: The Earldom of the Brave Romance (Analee Island).
Economy: Based on tourism, literature, and a type of fruit which grows well in the foggy climate of the Earldom.
Ruler Name: Earl Timertikos Cardial
Reason for Colonization: The climate and fruit

Description: The Earldom of the Brave Romance is composed of a large island (also called Analee), covered mainly in forests but with about a third cut down for farmlands. It is typically shrouded in what may be called either mist or fog, depending on your personal poetic preferences, although "fog" is more common. The most notable indigenous species are a type of large, flightless robin (called the Sunrise Robin for the male's plumage) and Morningglow, a bush which grows sweet, juicy berries that make a fine wine. The forests are full of natural beauty and animals which do not fear humans. While the Earl has restricted hunting to a bare minimum, nonhunters are perfectly allowed to enjoy the forests. Much money flows into the Earldom from noble couples coming here, or rich singles searching for something. Many artists, especially authors, reside in the Earldom, creating art known the world over. A more tangible export is the products of the Morningglow bush, notably the famed Sun Wine made from the berries. Timertikos is a fairly laiezz-faire ruler, for the time; individual towns have a remarkable degree of independence. Despite this, the Earldom has a fairly well-trained militia which is known to be very loyal to the Earl.

Colony Name: Proelia
Economy: Metal and Meat
Name: Alto Manus
Reason for colonization: The abundace of metals, the beautiful mountains ready to be ravaged for resources, and the plentiful and meaty albeit sometimes dangerous wildlife.

Description: Proelia is a hardy colony. It is covered with either mountains, hills, or valleys in between the previous 2. The wildlife is large, meaty, and dangerous. Towns are built mostly out of stone quarried from the mountains but are sometimes made out of wood from the sparse forests that dot the colony. While it does not seems the place for it, there are 2 great cities in the colony: Fort Nubilus and Trux. Both cities are partially carved directly out of the mountains that surround them, as both are built in bowl shaped valleys which keep them safe from attacks. People come to this colony to start a new life and hopefully become rich and world famous. Many die to achieve that goal but many, Manus included, have at least partially succeeded.

Name: The Grand Republic of Pants
Economy: Textiles, Armor, and Furs
Ruler: High Pantlord Joe
Reason: An abundance of raw materiels for making clothes and armor

Description: The Grand Republic of Pants controls a large swath of harsh, rugged mountains and valleys. The capital city, The Needle of God, is built into a large mountain in the western center of the territory. The area is rich in metal ores in the mountains and wildlife in the forested valleys. Three of the larger valleys have been partially deforested for timber and room for crops. The colony was settled by the Royal Guild of Tailors and Armorers, who wished to form a province with less creative regulation. (Who says three legged pants aren't useful?) The government set up in the wake of the King's boon is heavily focused on industry, with corporations controlling government.

Spoiler: New Veragua (click to show/hide)

Somebody has to provide the cotton for all of those pants... Plus plantations and raw goods were one of the major reasons why colonies were founded in the first place, so they're kinda essential.

Because Bay12Games. Or to rise up in revolution. One or the other (probably the former though).

GreatWyrmGold, you are not odd. If you are, then I am as well. For I do not have any plans to commit myself or my citizens to needless bloodshed.
